Was considering getting this. The price is great but the reviews are not as great. Multiple reviews complain about its black levels and it actually only being 60Hz. Seems like it doesn't hold up to a Samsung.
If this were the 3d (LM) version I'd be all over it. People comparing this to a Samsung get caught up in features and specs and forget that this is built much better and will likely outlive a comparable Samsung 2 to 1.

On the front lines every day fighting the true SD effect: Buying a completely inferior product for a slight discount to the real thing.
I was considering picking this up as a large conference room screen. The price is great, and I really like the 50" LG plasma I've had for the last couple years. However, the reviews leave me kind of skeptical as well.
Other recommendations, or does this seem like a decent purchase? The TV wouldn't get a whole lot of use, but I'd like it to last for 5-8 years.
Still slightly higher than what I got my LG55LK for 2 yrs ago after a p/m at Walmart, This is basically the newer version. I have thoroughly enjoyed mine and its a very good TV, that being said its going to the bedroom soon to be replaced with a 70 inch instead, but from what I have seen of this line its a very good TV,Tho mines an older version it still is a great picture from all angles after 2 yrs , http://www.amazon.com/LG-55LK520-...B004OOS38O
Well mines over 2 yrs old and no circuit board failures top speak of, usually circuit board failures are common when these units are placed in cabinetry without proper ventilation systems, mine not only is not in a cabinet but I also added a coupla cooling fans to increase the crossflow of air across the back of the TV , The largest problem with these types of TV's are heat absorbtion occuring when folks put them in cabinets or too high on a ceiling where hot air rises too and causes the cicuitry to abruptly overheat, might or might not have been your issue, but care and proper placement is a huge factor when mounting these units,I laugh at folks that put them over fireplaces and wonder why they have to buy a new TV every 3-4 yrs
