Newegg lied when it did not want to honor order price

Good morning guys: I've never visited the lounge before, but I decided to put out a mini rant here. I am quite upset that Newegg decided to lie when it did not want to honor a combo deal (wasn't a price mistake). Here goes:

- I saw this deal. It went OOS soon after but came back in stock briefly later. I snatched one up: https://slickdeals.net/f/5902948-Canon-EOS-Rebel-T3i-w-EFS-18-135mm-IS-EFS-55-250mm-IS-Lowepro-LP34610-0EF-Case-Sandisk-Class-10-16GB-SDHC-Elements-11-Lightroom-4-699-99-FS-Newegg?
- I placed the order for the combo for $689.99 at 5:31pm EST on 3/12/13
- The order was processed and payment charged, so far so good.
-The order remained in "packaging" stage.
- I received an "back order" email from Newegg at 2:57pm EST yesterday (3/13/13) - the camera was "out of stock" and has been cancelled. However, the rest of the order was in "packaging" stage.
- I was credited back $466 for the camera. The remainder of the order costs $223.
- I called and inquired whether I can put the whole order on hold and wait for the camera to be back in stock. Was told that there's nothing I can do and the rest of the order has already shipped, and he doesn't know whether the camera will ever come back in stock.
- At 6:50am EST on 3/14/13 (today), the camera was back in stock, but at $849.99.
- At 8:30am EST, I called and spoke with Gilbert of Newegg. I was initially told that there's nothing I can do but order the camera at $849.99.
- After being put on hold for about 5 minutes, he came back and offered me a $202 discount on the camera, or $647 for the camera ONLY.
- He also denied that Newegg cancelled the order because of the price: "the item can come back in stock at any time and we don't know when". Really? A pallet of cameras was delivered overnight?
- Since my order total will add up to $647 + $223 = $870, it would be $180 more.
- I told him I would think about it.

Conclusion: it seems to be that Newegg cancelled my order ONLY because it did not want to honor the price, not because it was out of stock (since I can now place an order of 180 of these $849 kits (max quantity allowed, less than 24 hours later). I am very disappointed at Newegg and caution anyone to not take an order for granted - it may be cancelled if Newegg doesn't want to honor the price! And to think I've been ordering from Newegg since 2002.

You should argue with them about canceling your order. It went through, they should honor it. When they denied your request, you should tell them to cancel the whole package(reject the shipment)

***update: after 2 emails, 2 tweets, 1 facebook wall post, still no response.

Just keep calling them until they honor it. They will eventually break down as they don't want any one order tying up their customer service
I did call 3 times. The "best they could do me" was cut me a "deal" at $2 lower than Amazon's price.

Why so serious? srsly?
Because it feels like a massive bait n' switch. I know it doesn't mean jack that I've been ordering since 2002, but from now on I'll order elsewhere if prices are the same.

When I first called they told me the packaging has already been shipped. I could not refuse the shipment since I had it ship to my office building, and packages are handled by a massive mail room.

If you said 10 times, I would say ok give it up, but really you should have just hung up as soon as they say they won't honor it. Then call back again. Another thing you could try is the BBB. Newegg is a big company, and big companies usually will handle the situation in your benefit after you contact the BBB. It happened with me and a $400 CD/MP3 Pioneer headunit from Crutchfield. After filing with the BBB, they finally did the right thing and gave me a credit towards a new stereo.

Unfortunately I was really busy at work that day and didn't have the time. I did file a BBB complaint yesterday. Not having high hopes but we'll see.
