Sorry, newbie questions here

Could I use this to replace my Verizon landline? I presume I would still need internet service. I currently have triple play from Verizon - I have flat rate calling in the US and my only international calls are to Ireland for which I use Skype from the handset to landines. But I want to do away with TV and phone to save money. Last time I checked though it wasn't that big a saving to from Triple Play vs. internet only.

I've read the posts here and the reviews of this on Newegg but still not clear on how it works. Does it connect to one's existing router from internet provider? Can you then connect a regular phone to the device?
I just did away with my triple play and use fios at $30 a month for 15/5 Internet. Loving the savings. Will get one of these eventually to have a landline.

That is great! I pay about $87/month for the Verizon bundle but I could live without TV and figured I could make VOIP calls over the PC. I need to call Verizon to see how much internet only would cost - I can't see that online for my address.

I have Tmobile 4G service, my cellphone is rooted and I can use it for a hot spot. How can I connect my Obi110 with 4g hot spot (a bridge?).

You need the 202 (this deal) with the wifi adapter (linked a while back). The 110 can't connect to a wifi hotspot.

Is this the adapter you are referring?

VOIP.ms is what I use as my provider. It is dirt cheap. I usually pay around four dollars per month altogether with all fees and the E911 charge too. I use a Cisco SPA 3102 [newegg.com] device. But this is a good priced device too. (I do however like mine better after looking around.)

Different areas have different prices. They are trying to push out the competition by offering a price that cannot be bested by anyone. They can afford to lose a tiny bit of money over time to build a great monopoly they can exploit.

Where I live in Texas, I can get exactly nothing better than dial up for less than $50. But someone living less than a mile from me has three different options for about $20-40 each.

If FIOS is ever here, I will jump on it even knowing it will backfire once they push out all competition.

Does OBi202 and OBi110 allow faxes to be sent using Google Voice?

Will this unit work with Google Voice outside of US without using any VPN trick? TIA.

I called to see what they had to offer and they are running a $30 plan with 3 year price lock and no contract. I just got my first bill and they tried charging me an installation and internet fee. I laid into them and they removed it. The rep that sold it to me said it would be a flat $30 and no installation. I am in Oregon so no tax either

That $30/month must be for new customers. I just called Verizon and was told $64.99/month for Internet only. CSR assured me that new customers pay that too for internet only. I also asked about switching to Double Play. Prices quoted were no saving on what I now pay for Triple Play and in the case of Internet+TV would actually be higher.

I tried Cablevision. They offer internet only 15/2 service for $29.95/month which is all dandy except I left them on bad terms. I refused to pay my bills when they started hiking up the price on me at the end of the promotion period. And although I could get internet only for $29.95/month, I would first have to pay off my old balance - which shows up as soon as they look at my address.
