Safeway has t-mobile sparq prepaid phone for $29.99 and you can also use just for u coupon [safeway.com] to reduce the bill by $25, resulting in the price to $4.99.

It seems that the inventory is limited so YMMV. I've checked my local stores but they didn't have it in stock. The $29.99 price is until 3/31 and the just for U coupon is by 4/2.

The phones are behind the customer service counter just FYI.

LIMIT ONE PER CLUB CARD. You can use a family member's account online to add the J4U deal and use their phone number at the store.

Coupon can be found when you log into your account under the Just 4 U section > Coupon Center > Category: Special Offers

Tried in AZ. Rang up as 49.99 as others have found.

Can anybody find any ad which shows that it is supposed to ring up as 29.99 anywhere?

So.. yeah, like Rachel42, they had that discount display which also said expires March 31st. However, I think Safeway's original intention was to just have the sale through the end of March.. but maybe they thought the phone would get more attraction by providing a just4u coupon. They then bumped up the price back to $49.99 with just $25 off from just4u.

At my local Safeway, they still had the sale tag.. it rung up at the cashier at $49.99 and the $25 just4u came off right away using my club card. The CSR had me show her the sale tag .. I noted how it said it was good through March 31st. At first, she could not do a discount directly on the item because mobile phones are rung up like "prepaid visa/mc", etc... so she did a manual override of removing $20 from the total bill.

Didn't "need" this phone.. but it's an awesome backup when the kids trash their phones.

And thanks for the deal! These are the few true slickdeals I participate in.. most deals are "meh" these days.

Yep, just got back from a Randall's in Austin,
the j4u $25 comes off fine, but the price remains at $49,
so maybe, maybe not ....worth $27

$5 burner phone for kids or the elderly?

TX doesn't have Safeway any more, but they do own Tom Thumb and there is lots of Safeway branded merch inside.

I think most stores will have the $29.99 sign on the item. When you go to ring it up, tell them that the price is $29.99, not $49.99. They will manually adjust the price or deduct $20 from your total. Then enter your Club Card info.

That's it exactly. It's not as easy to price adjust because it's a phone, but a competent clerk should know how. If you get a typical clerk, you're screwed.shake head

That's why I went straight to the customer service counter.. it's only bad if there's a long line... but you have to go there to pick up the phone itself anyways.

In at the VONS below just in case ypu are planning to make the trip. They have about 10 of them but all regular price $49.99 minus $25 that's $24.99.

Vons

Another VONS on 3rd has a sign for $29.99 but none in stock.
The VONs on Alvarado doesn't have any either.

The price of $29.99 was probably last week, prices changed today so its not on sale any more. OP probably picked it up after midnight so double dipped because J4U and flyer don't activate at the same time. I remember seeing a discussion about this exact timing thing last year.

Yeah.. but the difference is the sales tag says "expires March 31".. someone attached a screenshot on a previous post.. the tag on my local Safeway said the same thing.

See the pic in post #48, it's supposed to be on sale until Mar.31. These tags were still up today. The JFU is a $25 coupon which has been available for a couple weeks now.Safeway raised the price in their system today(new ads start Wed.),but they're supposed to honor there marked prices.

Stopped at a Tom Thumb in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. The phone rang up at 49.99. The customer service desk wouldn't do a price adjustment for me and so I declined the purchase.
