Luis, Will the XBMC Linux version (developed by Pivos for the Xios DS) work on this?
Thanks
unbreakable,

We, MyGica USA / Global, mostly support the XBMC Android App. I have seen the XBMC Linux version work on our device. You would need a M3 firmware which is build for a generic M3 device. I have seen community builds of this firmware made for the M3 reference board. You can also compile it from source I believe.

Keep in mind that we bundle a Premium Air Mouse with x3 Gyro sensors which works great on Android. You will need a IR remote or a USB wired/wireless keyboard to interact with the XBMC linux still you active mouse support.

Also, note that you can update and recover the firmware on our device. So you can try a few firmwares before you decide which one you will run longer. The system has root access and you can customize is as you need.

Thanks, Luis.

So XBMC will only output 720p? Does it have Google Play access out of the box? And lastly, are there custom firmware out there for it, or are we stuck with only the Mygica releases?

fbueller,

That is correct, the XBMC Android app works best when the systems resolution is set to 720p. I myself mostly use XBMC to watch video streams using add-ons. Most of the streams I use are in lower resolution.

For local 1080p movies. I usually use a Android app called MX Player with the ArmV7 NEON codec to play all the 30+ GB 1080p HD movie backups from my network attached drive (NAS). This configuration needs a network cable connection (RJ45) to manage the large network packages as a wireless connection will not keep up with all the packages.

The Google Play app is pre-installed and will work as intended.

Our firmware are mostly updates to the Android OS and some which include launcher base themes instead of the standard Android desktop interface.

Hello,

I will like to answer a few questions.

1. A XBMC Android App will work on this device. We are working on fixing some of the add-on support. The resolution needs to be at 720p for the XBMC app to work. 1080p can be used through the android system.

2. The SoC is a AML8726-M3, a single core up to 1.0 Ghz.

3. There are not SATA ports inside since the device is so small.

4. The sku is ATV510B. In the USA, we call it EVOKE Mini, for global its called Enjoy TV Nano.

If you have any question, please ask and I will try to assist.

Nice we have an official Mygica employee on the forums. You will get asked about the rebate and how long will that take to arrive.

To answer satnav4 question on dj-3lusion post:

Please allow up to 12-14 weeks for processing and delivery of your rebate. We typically have an 8-10 week completion period. On the 8th week, we welcome our customers to inquire about their rebate claims.

I would recommend using our rebate support ticket system since personal information will need to be verified and we will issue you a ticket id which will help us route your request. You can find the support ticket submit form on our MyGica USA Support Page.

webjock,

The EVOKE Mini can read/write to Fat32 and read only to NTFS. I have a USB 2.0 1TB hard drive formatted to NTFS. Some of my MKV files are 30GB and it works as intended. I also believe linux EXT3/4 are supported.

Guys,

Just got my EVOKE Mini TV setup. Nice! My thoughts so far:

- comes with an HDMI cable, so don't buy one!
- native Android experience on a TV is pretty cool
- Network app is cool, lets you access a shared PC folder over the network
- Amazon Appstore & Google Play works

- no power down option in the software (like in phones & tablets), power switch just turns off the hdmi out
- no audio out if you just want to use a HD monitor.
- doesn't work fast like latest Samsung Galaxy phones but responsive enough
- remote is glitchy, freezes and the blue light goes off, need a keyboard if you type a lot
- native Gallery app is missing, so it lacks the convenience of scan/view all media in one place
- wallpaper picture is low resolution, photos can only be set from a browser

Luis,

The manual says "you will get ADB function by Ethernet or Wifi" under Developer Options. What does that mean? Will I be able connect via ADB without a USB cable? More information will be helpful for developers like me. I didn't know ADB worked over Ethernet!

I plugged in a USB cable from my PC to the Evoke TV but the ADB in my PC didn't detect the TV. That's when I noticed the device can be powered via USB from the PC without the power adapter.

Overall a happy customer.

Thanks,
Ramesh

Thanks for responses here. I bought one and will setup XBMC once I receive it.

Can I leave this running all the time without being concerned about overheating etc.? I have MK808 but only turn on whenever I need because it heats up after a while.
