And some more notable deals that I can't research because I was just looking for high end routers at the moment.
List of all Wireless Routers on sale today [bestbuy.com]

Pretty good price on some of them, especially the newly released router like the AC66U and r6300. Reading the reviews, if you only need b/g/n, then you better save your money and get the RT-N66U.

Technically, the 60 day price match should apply since that was the policy in place when you made the purchase. I'd make that argument first before you return and rebuy.
Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry for my simplicity, but what makes these routers different from a regular deal $30 wireless N router such as this one?

I'm guessing this is one of those, "if you have to ask, you don't need it" deals, right?

I can stream blu ray rips (720p/1080p) on my e3000 / 5ghz, no lag whatsoever. This should be better than the e3000. Just need to put tomato on there.

Most issues with HD streaming is the computer, not the router.

If this sucker died like 30 days later, we have to deal with ASUS? Who pay for the shipping charge? Thanks and repped.

You pay for shipping.

However, I was able to get mine in a flat-rate box envelope easily (with a box) so it was about $5-ish. I received a refurbished unit.

What makes a router worth 160 dollars?

I don't know.

For that price, it's worth going into the attic and trying to drop cat-6 through the walls. You'll have an infinity times better experience than wireless. The problem is, most of us are slickdealers and don't want to shell out the $$$ to do a legit wireless infrastructure installment on our homes. For real, if I had an unlimited budget for wireless, you would have brain cancer for how strong the signal would be.

Be warned that asus 5g is useless unless it sits next to you. Do not dream you can use it for HD streaming. Same quality router you can take for $80 or less. I am a victim of good reviews of the router, bought it paying $200 and now regret. Do not do my mistake.
My RT-N66U 5GHz (with stock firmware) works like wonder. I don't know what you are talking about.

This router wroth every pennies i paid. Hands down the best router i ever own.

Just check out some of the comparison charts. Pretty much you get what you pay for in term of performance, features, quality, better compatibility (what connect to the USB ports and what wireless client connect to the router), better interface, etc. And also how far you can connect to the wireless router and at what speed you can get.

Of course, if you only going to use it as wireless router (without using the extra features) and you only going to connect one client to it at relatively close distance, probably doesn't matter which wireless routers you get as long as it works. If you have multiple devices streaming HD video and some pretty far away from the router, better router likely make a big differences.

You're a risk taker. You sent in a new unit and they returned w/ a refurbished unit???

i was able to stream blu rays with a n66 (stock firmware) to linksys e4200 v1 (flashed with tomato) no problem over 5g. 26 gb blu ray i had stuttering issues with vlc and media player but power dvd 12 worked just fine

It was a two-year old router or so. It wasn't new.

It was within the warranty, I paid shipping, and I Asus returned refurbished unit with a different serial number. I wouldn't consider myself a risk taker. I had a dead router that would not power on or even blink a single LED at me. $5 is more than worth trying to get a somewhat functional something back.

Trying to chose between the a66 and n66, which do you guys recommend for my situation. I just bought a new house (2 story and about 2300 sq ft). I brought my wireless router from my old house but it isn't reaching some areas of the house and it also needs to be reset all the time.

I have cox for internet and have a zoom modem. I have a windows 8 desktop, windows 7 laptop, macbook air, 2 ipads, google nexus tablet, 2 iphones, roku, tv, blue-ray, wireless printer and xbox 360. Though only a couple are being used at a time.

The Asus AC66 has better reviews from what I've read.
