I have been really happy with my Eco-Drive titanium watch. Very lightweight, and has kept great time for the year that I've had it. Plus the sapphire crystal face hasn't scratched at all, even though there are little scratches around it on the bezel.
This is a great price!

Any other comments on the eco drive? I've been searching for a reasonable titanium watch for a while, and they've got a couple that are considerably cheaper than other manufacturers.
What's so special about titanium watches?

I own the Nighthawk, and can't recommend it highly enough. At this price, I even thought about buying a second one as a backup.
Lol, me too. For those concerned, I have the Nighthawk with the mineral face, and I bang it on doorways and stuff all the time; still no visible scratches.

I'm sure the sapphire is better though. And yes, you will be unlikely to use the slide rule on the Nighthawk but it looks great. I wish it had a stopwatch though Frown

Nope. Mineral is a lower grade of watch face. Read up here [ehow.com]

Titanium is a lot lighter than steel (nice if you like a big watch, don't like wearing half a pound of metal). Some people are also allergic to steel - those people generally don't have a reaction to titanium. Lastly, it's got a less blingy finish, so it's a little more grey / muted, as opposed to bright / shiny steel. This can vary a great deal depending on the finish, but in general, titanium watches will not be as shiny as steel ones, and will be grayer.

So jomashop is trusted and reliable? Should we be concerned about the no warranty from citizen?

this one looks MUCH better in person than in the pictures. It has a shine that is not shown well AT ALL. the leather band version is what I want. It's slightly small, but not crazy. and the hand is not a sweeping, more of the fast clicking kind. Very light, i tried it on and it didn't feel like having a watch on at all.

Okay just to answer some questions regarding places like Jomashop/Authentic Watches/Non-Authorized dealers.

This is how it works - Authorized Dealers of Citizen watches, like your local Macy's, are forced to accept a certain number of Citizen watches from the manufacturer. These stores (ADs) will sell at retail price or slightly lower, but will come with a manufacturer's warranty so Citizen will handle your repairs if something happens to the watch that is not your fault.

ADs, in general, cannot sell out all their supply of watches, so they sell their stash to grey market dealers such as Jomashop/Authentic Watches/random large Ebay sellers in bulk at reduced prices. These retailers do not offer manufacturer's warranty, well, because they cannot, so they tend to offer their own warranty - YMMV. These grey market dealers, however, offer much more competitive pricing because they do not have to adhere to manufacturer's stipulations and received these watches at a low price from ADs. Large retailers like Jomashop won't sell fake watches, everything is real, it is just a matter of warranty.

In general, if any AD can come close to grey market pricing, go with AD, but in this situation, go with Jomashop.

Also, Sapphire > Mineral, but not many watches have sapphire sub 300 USD.

Eco-Drive uses sun light to charge a battery (they call it power cell to sound cool but it is just a battery). The battery then powers the quartz movement. It is a battery powered watch for all intents and purposes, it just will not need replacing for a while.

I own the Citizen Calibre 8700 Eco-Drive. I love the watch. Never have to set the date again and it can have 2 time zones programmed into it. When i got it for my 21st birthday, i got it for like 300... This price is amazing. Never needing a battery is really really nice. I have had this watch for a year and a half with no issues.

I have two titanium watched and have been very happy with them, I wear the one with the all metal band daild and probably have logged over 100k miles of international travel without a scratch on the face.
