Thread Details

This is the CVS Coupon Discussion thread for questions, scenarios & chat for all coupons (including Manufacturers) that can be used at CVS.

This is the only thread due to the fact another thread that had CVS coupons only turned into a begging thread and was full of abuse.

Help.......I got the $4/20 coupon in my email. I thought to load it to my card. The fine print says that it will be applied to my NEXT purchase. I plan to go to CVS today to buy something for under $5 (no coupon, no sale). I will not be able to use it..... does it mean, it will go away from my account or would it stay there for next 4 days (i.e. I can use it if I buy $20)

It should pop up for cashier to give you the option to use. Just mention to the cashier that you do not want it applied at this time. You will be able to use it up to 4 days after you sent it to your card.

thank you. You guys are awesome. I do not go to CVS without reading the thread here. Since I do not shop there much, I am not an expert when it comes to CVS coupons. If I post a question, someone usually replies. I donot always post my "thank you" post, but I make sure to rep the person............thank you all.

I read back through this week's posts and didn't see the answer to this. Is the $4/$12 cosmetics CRT a CVS Q or CVS MFR Q?

Just got back (Sat. PM after the new ad was activated) from CVS and I have a question for RyderGal or any other CVS coupon interaction expert.

I have searched this thread and couldn't find an answer.

I purchased just under $35 worth of stuff as follows:
Revlon polish $5.99
Garnier skin care $6.49
Garnier skin care $6.49
Phys. Form. Mascara $9.99
Aeroshot Energy $2.99
Aeroshot Energy $2.99

I planned to use the following coupons:

XTRA DAY 20% coupon
$4 off $12 Beauty
$4 off $20 e-mail coupon

$2 off garnier MC
$2 off garnier MC
$1 off Phys Form MC
$1 off Revlon color cos MC
BOGO Free Aeroshot CVS coupon
BOGO free Aeroshot MC

The cashier scanned one item before scanning my card and then proceeded to scan the remaining items.

She then scanned the $4 off $20 as the first coupon and then the 20% and then I believe she hit a "total" button and then she scanned 4 MCS (garnier, garnier, phys form, revlon) Revlon was of course a beeper because it always beeps on the nail polish so she entered it by hand. Then she scanned the $4 off $12 and it beeped!!

At this point she began reading the coupons and of course declared that I couldn't use the $4 off $20 email coupon with the $4 off $12 coupon and that was why it was beeping. But of course we know that this combining works as long as I have $32 worth of stuff -- which I did have.

I then asked her to add another item (Which was $1) to my transaction which she did and then she scanned the $4 off $12 and it still beeped so I gave up and she then preceded to scan the 2 BOGO coupons and my ECBs and then I just paid the rest OOP.

On my receipt it says that I got $7.00 for the XTRA DAY 20%, which is correct since my total was just under $35.00.

So here is my question:
Does the $7.00 discount affect the transaction total when determining whether the $X/$XX coupons are accepted or rejected? The cashier did hit some sort of "total" button right after she scanned the 20% XTRA coupon. So I am wondering if at that point the register now thinks that my transaction total is $28.00 rather than $35.00? (i.e. $35.00 - $7.00 =$28.00) and since the $4/$20 had already been scanned so that leaves $8.00 left "unattached" so when the $4/$12 was scanned it beeps.

So what happened?

My only other thought is that perhaps those Aeroshot energy things are somehow not counted towards the total -- i.e. like liquor and cigerettes. When those were scanned, the register told the cashier to make sure that I am over 18. Of course, the 20% discount worked on them just fine so I don't think that was it.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

I think your theory that the % off q recalculated your total could be what caused it. I don't think the energy things would have been the problem.

Sunday CRTs

Save $.25 on Coke 2-liter bottle
$.75 off two M+Ms Sharing Size, Snickers 2 to Go or Twix 4 to Go
$4 off CVS Brand Sun Care purchase of $12 or more
$2 off any Revlon Face, Eye or Lip cosmetics item

The Revlon one could be useful if you're doing the $7 ECB wyb $15, especially if it prints every day.

That is also what happened to me when cashier hit total before other coupon was scanned, same sequence - same outcome. The xx% recalculates and the leftover $yy/$zz coupon minimum was already deducted by the xx% but if you have other non-sale item it will compensate the loss.

Whenever I get a xx% coupon, I always give it last.

Some will argue that it doesn't matter how you handed the coupons but I always follow what my flawed past experiences.

I have just been reading the threads to see if I can fiqure out my transaction. I know you want to have your card scanned after an item to get the discount for non-sale ECB items. But does this scenio also affect how CVS Coupons react? I used the X-day Q earlier in the week and my card wasn't scanned first and I had 15.00 in CVS COUPONS and the full 20% came off. Last night she scanned my card first and I had 48.83 of non-sale--non-ECB items and I had 15.00 in CVS Coupons and only 1.88 came off instead of the 9.77. So that is the only thing I can think of.. Is this right? TIA

Well, I am lost---I would still like to know about the CVS Q's if someone would clue me in---but I just realized even if that was the case it would still be 6.77...I think that will be the last time on a Sat. night I shop, this is one messed up shopping trip.

For the purpose of the $4 off $12 Cosmetics CRT what is considered a cosmetic? I know that nail related products like Sally Hansen are mentioned as exclusions in the CRT. Specifically is Hair Color considered a cosmetic? What about creams? Does CVS have a list somewhere? TIA.
