So, is anyone seeing any backlight bleeding or "flashlighting" in the corners with a black screen? I noticed this when pausing an all black screen (beginning of a movie credits sequence) in a nearly dark room. The bottom left corner was particularly bad, then the right corner, then the top ones, in order of decreasing severity. There were some other people on the AVS forums mentioning this too.

I'm just wondering whether I should bother trying to exchange it or if they are all like this. I could possibly get used to it (it is much less obvious when there's anything other than pure black in the corners, or there is some ambient light), but I am a little disappointed considering that my 5-6 year old Samsung 52" (model LN52A550P3FXZA) seemed to have better blacks and a way more uniform screen.
You can calibrate this set so that the blacks are acceptable. You wont get jaw dropping though. Upping the contrast helps too. It really took some time to find acceptable settings for me.It took me nearly 4 weeks before I was happy.
My 3 year old 40 inch Samsung LCD has darker blacks than this set , but I like the more realistic colors of this LED better..
LED's are not known for great black levels. It's about what you prefer. Each technology seems to have trade offs.
If your set has A defect though and you are not willing to live with, ship it back before its too late.
Have you considered Plasma? Most people on AVS Forums prefer them.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm a bit OCD and I think honestly that I'm just looking for problems. I don't know much about the pros and cons of LCD vs LED, so you pointing out that LEDs give better colors provides a little balance and reminds me that I should also be looking at the good qualities of the set and not just looking for faults. I will rarely watch in a totally dark room and I might look into getting a bias lighting kit which some have said helps the perception of black levels. Thanks!

I received my GC on the 10th, 15 days after my order. It came from "dellgiftcards@cashstar.com" if anyone wants to search and make sure it didn't go to their spam folders.

I wanted to use my GC balance to get a decent home theater system. Dell seems to have a pretty poor selection. Anyone else doing the same with their GC?
