I had one of those deals a couple years ago and never went back, their food just plain sucks, if your gonna pay big money like that for a steak, you might as well go to Ruths Chris and get something really good. If you don't want to be big balling, than go to Texas Roadhouse, I'll take them over Flemings anyday.
I think they are on a kick to get people back into their restaurants after a few years of bad reviews. I got a $50 gift card in the mail around New Years (no minimum - no alcohol) and used it last week. I went to the Boston Flemings maybe 6 or 7 years ago and for the price it just didn't measure up. For the same cost or less I had gotten much better service and food at other premium steakhouses around town like Morton's, Capital Grille, Smith & Wollensky, etc. But for $50 free I figured we would give it another shot.
I must say they get points for most improved. The service was much more attentive and the food was a lot better. The decor seemed upgraded although my memory isn't that good as to what it used to look like. I had a surf & turf special of Filet Mignon with Crab Stuffed Baked Shrimp and my wife had the Porcini Rubbed Filet. We split a side of Fleming's Potatoes (picture Au Gratin but with Blue Cheese and some Jalapenos - pretty good). They have a new 'digital' wine list which is basically an iPad in a case with a locked down custom wine menu app. I tried using the iPad wine list but I'm actually not bad at pairing wines so I found it more distracting then helpful although others who are still learning how to match wine with meals may get something out of it. I had a New Zealand Cab and I picked a Merlot / Syrah blend for my wife.
I do think they are compensating for all these promos with a little bit of a premium on their a la cart pricing. Sides were maybe $2 more than the competition and the cuts seemed $5 or so more then the competition. My wife and I paid $121 with 20% tip (on the pre-discount price) for two appetizers, two glases of wine, one side and two cuts. Not cheap, but a little cheaper than usual.
Thanks for this...so this promotion I didnt know about.
Now if I have all the deals together I am seeing:
$50 off $100+ from Amex Sync
$25gc from this thread's deal
$25gc off $100+ from Amex Blue Savings from your link
$20gc off $100+ which is the current Fleming's promo http://www.flemingssteakhouse.com/gift-cards
any other deals that I am forgetting? I know there is one in for people in CA...but I'm in the northeast here haha
