Eureka copper canyon 8 tent at dicks sporting goods is being sold for 189.99$ in store. I bought one at Paramus, NJ store.
The particular model tent is not on their website at all, although other models like canyon 6 are. So, it's clearly B&M ONLY, and ymmv, because I have not confirmed the deal at other stores.
i have to assume that this is also at other stores... The cheapest I can find this is at campmor (b&m only price, different price posted on the Web) is 329$. I see them as high as 390$. So, it's considerably cheaper and maybe worth checking out if you have a need for a big family tent.

I grabbed a Copper Canyon 1312 last year and love it. I paid $260 form campmor (might have been on sale/clearance). The 1312 is no longer available but is 2' wider and has an awning. If you can get this for $190 that's a great deal. We were able to fit a queen air mattress, pack and play for out infant, folding chair and still had plenty of room to walk around
I got one for $189+ tax in central Alabama. THIS IS LESS THAN COST. (according to the Dicks sales rep) They only had one, there was a sign saying that it, the Copper 8 had been marked down to $249 next to 6+ Copper 6s, but at the bottom of the shelf they had one Copper 8. A sale attendant scanned it and it came up $189. He said "Wow, we are losing 15% on that tent. You better get it." Amazon has it for $380 including shipping.
Pros: $400 tent. It is a Eureka. Huge, adults can stand up and easily change clothes. Reviews on amazon say it will stand up to rain well. It has 1200mm fabric.
Cons: Color. Would have preferred green or brown. Weighs 34 pounds, need wheels on bottom of bag lol.

How does it do in the rain? I think I will set it up in our yard and douse it with the hose. I think this is supposed to set the waterproofing on the seems, too.
The main reason we keep them separate is because it is such a PITA to roll the tent up tight enough to fit everything back in the bag (people usually buy a larger canvas bag at an army surplus store to keep everything together). But the unintended added benefit of keeping them separate is weight, although these aren't canvas tents so it's not a HUGE issue...
As far as the rain, I've been lucky enough not to have to deal with it during our camping trips last year. The rain fly should be fine for light rain and passing showers, but heavy rains or rains with wind might be a problem. Just keep the tent and rain fly tight, and items inside away from touching the walls. We use a 11'x17' heavy duty tarp underneath the tent to act as a tent pad and the 17' side extends out in front of the door ways to act as a stoop to put our shoes. If it were to rain, we would fold it up and tuck it under the tent to keep rain from pooling underneath the tent. Additionally, we have a 19'x19' light duty tarp (still in the original bag) that we would throw over the tent if we were expecting heavy rains. This reminds me I need to get some stakes and guy lines for that tarp.
