Back in-stock as of 2PM 4/29 EDT.

For those wanting to dabble in OpenWRT they just released 12.09 final today. I upgraded and everything went smoothly, even did it over wireless... living dangerously. Just a reminder, if you are upgrading you will need to reinstall your packages!!!

Upgrade for those with 12.09RC1:

Fresh install for those with stock firmware:

Brainslayer dd-wrt firmware from 04/15/2013 is out; i flashed my buddies and it worked like a charm with both frequencies.

if flashing from stock remember to use the factory-to-ddwrt.bin file.

I am using gargoyle now, not bad. 5G band is a joke, most of my equipments ( computer, 4 laptops, tablet, 3 WD live plus, 2 BlueRays and 2 phones) cannot see it except iphone. I am pulling 60+ mbps with wire connect and only ~25mbps on wireless. I should go for ASUS but at $100 more. I need to find a faster router that can transfer wireless video.

do i need a 5Ghz router if i am just watching HD youtube videos and some bittorrent (1mbs or less speeds) files occasionally? Sometimes my current 2.4Ghz 802.11g router chugs when i am doing multiple things like that. But not sure if its the router or I need a 5Ghz router to handle all that stuff?

I am not streaming HD videos from my Desktop to my laptop or anything like that.

any thoughts?

I picked this up last time around... I really like it. I especially like the two USB ports for network printing (I have two printers) so now the family can print without coming in and commandeering my PC. Wink
