This is retarded. Doesn't the state assess a tax on electricity anyway?
Pretty much the first thing I was thinking, too. A "fair equivalent" would be to implement a per mile tax on all vehicles regardless of type ON TOP OF the current gas taxes and taxes on electricity, and perhaps maybe make the gas taxes more in line with those for electricity (or vice versa).
I mean, if they're going to do anything "fairly" and all...
I can't see how any of this would help foster adoption of or investment in EVs.
