I still wanna know why people are buying gaming laptops... Do you really need to game while you are traveling? I can see the point for college students, but any desktop machine will blow this away at the same price point. Plus gaming on such a small screen just isn't the same.
I spend 50% of my time on the road, so yes, I do. Having a gaming laptop with me on the road is actually a cost savings compared to purchasing entertainment on the road. YMMV.

Every time this deal comes up I have to say that if you don't need the most super high end gaming laptop, the Dell 15R Special Edition deals that pop up every now and then at the Dell Outlet with an i5 processor are a better value in the $500-600 range.
And after dealing with Dell support for a month on my XPS15 that they shipped back to me broken, I will never buy another Dell again.

The gpu on this laptop is weak as hell. It cannot be used as a gaming machine, especially at 1080p resolution. I would recommend anyone looking to buy a laptop either go for a far cheaper model, which could perform normal tasks just as easily as this one, or step up to a real gaming laptop.
Or, for those of us whose games don't require super powerful graphics, it would be fine. The GT 750m will play all current games on high settings. This laptop is hundreds cheaper than "real gaming laptops" and a great option for those who don't want or need and over-priced and over-rated alienware.

I'd love a 14" version with 1600x900 resolution, but that doesn't exist.

Still, fantastic deal.

I will never buy a high end laptop with Lenovo brand regardless spec and price because I don't trust the company.

The 16gb SSD mentioned is actually an mSATA, so just replace it with a larger one and you're good to go.

Thanks and repped! I want to install a bigger one so that I can load the OS. Don't need a cache drive. and uSe the drive in it as a storage for pictures/videos.

I paid 950 for my 650 one with blu ray 16gb ram. I love it though, no regrets. Touchpad is really nice once you update drivers/get use to it. super fast, downloaded a lot of games, plays them fine. (im not playing the newest of the new though) but yeah. Works for me.

This laptop is an awesome deal at the price i bought it at (the y400 with 650m @ $699). $879 is a bit steep imo for extra ram that you probably wont be using, but still a great laptop series. As far as gaming, it handles the very latest games on high/ultra settings at 1080p with only the single 650m (overclocked to more than 750m's performance), so it's definitely a capable gaming machine. Add to that the expandability of adding a second graphics card when you're ready, and you can see an added 50% boost in performance in SLI (closer to a 100% boost for two overclocked 650m cards). That's NOTHING to squawk at.
