eginning May 1, consumers who trade in their current smartphone to AT&T* will be eligible to receive at least $100 off the purchase of a new smartphone, including the new Samsung Galaxy® S 4, BlackBerry® Z10 or 32 GB HTC One®. These devices are normally $199.99 with a qualifying two-year agreement** but, with this limited time promotion, they will be available for $99.99.

This promotion applies to any smartphone AT&T sells, and gives customers access to the latest devices at a fraction of the cost or, in the case of smartphones priced under $99.99**, for free. To take advantage of this offer, customers are encouraged to visit any AT&T company-owned retail store or participating authorized dealer with their previous smartphone that is no more than three years old and in good, working condition. In stores, upon trading in their old phone, customers will receive the $100 credit on-the-spot and can use it immediately. ***

Some trade-in phones may have a value higher than $100. In this case, customers will receive the credit at the higher value.

hmmm. just got some junk phones. Do the phones have to be new? these have scratches and stuff but still work.
the stuff I traded in before were in close to perfect condition

or does it depend on the csr?

what brand and model phones did you trade that yielded $500 for all 5?

I tried that route and it only gave me $151 for all 5 with bb curves and bolds...

went to a 3rd store and still got shot down...

they wanted me to use the card right there and then and sign a contract to get the "full" trade price of $100...no point in arguing.

DEAL IS DEAD for trading-in VM Optimus Elite in stores.
The trade-in value listed in stores is now $12.

How sure are we that the online trade-in would work?

PS: AT&T sucksvomit

It's still $100 for optimus elite and if at&t associate tell you lower than $100 then ignore and move to other store. My optimus elite comes up $32 on their ipad and I still get $100 so deal with an associate who knows what he's doing.

After being told no unless I bought a phone and signed a contract by every store in Charlotte, I contacted AT&T directly via the 800 number on the page and received an email today from someone on the backend. They confirmed that the program online was the same as in the store and asked me which store I was dealing with. I gave them the info for the one with the rudest employees and within 30 minutes the store manager called and told me to come in and that they would give me credit. I'll stop by tomorrow and see the manager directly. For anyone getting turned down, the employees are probably reiterating what they've been told, but they're wrong. Calling the 800 number on the trade in site can get you somehow who will be your advocate and contact the store to explain the program to them. What amazes me is that every store I went to, I would say "you and I must be reading this differently, would you please call the number to get clarification" and no employee would. I hope the one guy who told me he was "done talking to me" yesterday is there so he can see me walk out with my gift card.

I don't understand how some people think it's ok to talk like that to customers. They represent the brand and ought to remain professional and courteous at all times.
