Watch the 4:55 part of the video and can judge for yourself on the screen quality.

http://slickdeals.net/?sdtid=5999524&sdfpid=94280&sdpid=59197722&sdfid=9&lno=1&trd=http+www+youtube+com+watch+v+VHp&u2=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVHpW4FMiqlU

Fun things to do with the buttons:
Soft reboot -> Vol+ and Vol-, press and hold together for 10sec
Screen Shot -> At the Same time Press Power,Vol+ and Vol-
Recovery options and tools -> When the tablet is off, press and hold the Vol- then also press and hold the Power button until the screen comes on,goes off then comes back on again. Then hit Vol+ to get to the menu
(Vol buttons may change function depending on tablet orientation, the recovery option above was done with the speaker on the top & buttons on the right)

Compatible with the Square credit card reader? Yes!

ROOT:
READ EVERYTHING BEFORE PICKING UP YOUR TABLET. YOU BOUGHT IT, ITS UP TO YOU NOT TO BREAK IT.
Google is your friend if you want to know why to root.

1: Drivers.
The PANTECH drivers are available from their website. Just install the PC suite. It's actually a handy tool and better than samsungs Kies, which I can't get to work anywhere.

2. This blog is a little confusing but read the comment by Josh_Phy for what is almost a 1 click root. Download the dropbox file, unzip it and click the batch file.
http://pantechburst.blogspot.com/...ement.html

This info is also in the Rootzwiki thread: Look at post 157
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22981-...try1048482

You must read the whole thread. ICS info is new. The first post won't help as those instructions are for GB. Please read and become part of the community. A word of warning: Spoonfeeding is not encouraged or rewarded; be polite and respectful to people who put their time in to fully exploit the potential of these devices.

3. Titanium Backup: Buy it. This is the single most useful app in the entire marketplace. It slices, dices, chops, Juliannes, and does so much to Android that the OS wonders where it has been all its life. Once installed, back up EVERYTHING, upload it somewhere so you'll have a safe backup.
3a. Freeze bloatwear and if after a week or so, you don't notice any problem, then delete it.
3b. As you delete bloatwear, please update this wiki with what's safe and what isn't.

4. Custom Recovery (TWRP) for ICS is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s...p=41235707 Follow the instructions.

5. Apps2SD available in the Android store for FREE. I (mavblues) use the one by Gregory House. Works fine - however, it appears to move the apps to the media partition of the internal SD, as opposed to the external SD. However, it's still useful to free up lots of space to add more apps.

If you can't root, I'll try to help, but you must learn to fish, rather than having the fish thrown to you.

is this unlocked or could it be?
There's tons of info in the prior deal.

According to the FCC documentation the tablet has 1700 MHz LTE support (AWS), so it can potentially work for T-Mobile LTE once sim unlocked: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/re...d=JYCP4100
T-Mobile does not have LTE

Wow this would be perfect for txt messaging (and quick email/web research) on the road (not while driving of course - I'm not joking). Now to find a cheap $10/month plan that will work with this thing. I also like the possibility of using a VOIP system of somekind, however, even if void didn't work well the other features would be enough.
You can make calls from a tablet if you have a google voice number, an Obihai device connected to your home internet, and the Obion app. Caveat is you need a good wifi or 4g connection.

I really want one of these, but it's hard to judge by pictures how much bigger it is than a Nexus 7. I know it's 1" bigger technically but it would be nice if there were pictures comparing the two floating around the net...

I'm thinking about getting my mom a tablet for mother's day. She doesn't use a smart phone or any other type of technology like this. I was considering the nexus 7. I can see this has more features at a lower price, but honestly, she's probably not going to use half of them anyway. Just read books, play casual games, browse the web. Would it be worth it to save a couple bucks to get this, or should I get her the nexus?

I'm mainly looking for ease-of-use, reliability, and speediness when getting around the menus and such.

Thanks Smilie

It's also a 4:3 tablet, not 16:9 so it's going to be wider and stouter than an equivalent 8" 16:9 tablet. Think iPad Mini but chunkier.

Here's what I did.

I took a piece of paper and drew out the dimensions from the website below. Then I cut out the outline I drew and compared. I have the Pantech Element and the 4:3 screen (vs the Nexus 16:9) is much more useful and easier to see for both internet and game use. Movies look great too. The Pantech is both wider and taller than the Nexus 7 and I recommend the BodyGlove case from AT&T. It looks great in that case.... and works as a stand also.

Here;s a link to specs of both.

Readability is better on this than the Nexus both because of screen size and text can be selected to 4 different sizes. I pondered this too and did not want a 10" tablet, but 7" was too small. THIS is just right!

This IS a refurb tho, and may have some blemishes especially on the back. IT is a very glossy black and the back is like a shiny black car.... it shows anything. If you want brand new... you can get one off of Ebay but pay +$200 or so.
