I always thought it was just the TX-SR606 that I used to have that was notorious for the HDMI issues. I guess there are plenty of Onkyo models with this problem. I saw it mentioned in another model's thread recently, too.

No it's not audessey. There is another specific feature that I was reading about that talked about this. I thought it was Yamaha but could be wrong as I have now looked at so many receivers.
I thought in the past that the Audessy EQ or dsx or something took care of that but looks like the new Yamahas are using Adaptive DRC now.

I had a 606 also and the HDMI switcher died just over 2 years of owning it. I was able to solder the new capacitors and save the switching, but my on screen menus were gone which made setting up the audio impossible. I know electronics die sometimes, but after contacting onkyo, they told me this is not a common problem and mine must have been caused by abuse. I went on to tell them its on an audio rack in a closet set at 70 degrees with fans for venting. At which they told me I could send it back for a $300 repair with shipping. Wouldn't even admit it's a common failure. Awesome deal for a reciever with awesome specs, but after the way I was treated and my hardware failure, I will never buy onkyo again.

I can't believe how long Walmart takes to deliver!!! The item shows as "shipped" but delivery is "by 5/20/13'. Had I known that it would take that long I would have bought something else. I hope this is worth the wait.
