Responding to a flurry of complaints from conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, the Internal Revenue Service admitted Friday it made "mistakes" in the last few years while trying to process those requests.

Multiple tea party groups reported significant delays and excessive questioning from IRS officials while trying to obtain 501(c)(4) status.

"I think it was without doubt wrong. We knew it was wrong in the beginning," he said. "They had no right, whatsoever,...no right to deny us tax exempt status that 501(c)(4) groups routinely received."

Interesting. When Obama For America became a 501c4, it took them a few days.

Obama administration won't release IRS targeting documents [thehill.com]

The Obama administration is refusing to publicly release more than 500 documents on the IRS's targeting of Tea Party groups.

Twenty months after the IRS scandal broke, there are still many unanswered questions about who was spearheading the agency's scrutiny of conservative-leaning organizations.

The Hill sought access to government documents that might provide a glimpse of the decision-making through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

The Hill asked for 2013 emails and other correspondence between the IRS and the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). The request specifically sought emails from former IRS official Lois Lerner and Treasury officials, including Secretary Jack Lew, while the inspector general was working on its explosive May 2013 report that the IRS used "inappropriate criteria" to review the political activities of tax-exempt groups.

TIGTA opted not to release any of the 512 documents covered by the request, citing various exemptions in the law. The Hill recently appealed the FOIA decision, but TIGTA denied the appeal. TIGTA also declined to comment for this article.

But we were told this was a mini scandle, that there was nothing to see here.
What will the spin from the hypocrites be now?

IRS watchdog reveals Lois Lerner missing emails now subject of criminal probe
[washingtontimes.com]

Fortunately, the GOP has majorities in both houses and the democrats cannot stonewall this one away.
The IRS's inspector general confirmed Thursday it is conducting a criminal investigation into how Lois G. Lerner's emails disappeared, saying it took only two weeks for investigators to find hundreds of tapes the agency's chief had told Congress were irretrievably destroyed.

It's good to see the investigations moving forward since the MSM is asleep at the wheel. It'll be even better when we finally see some people go to jail for their role in this scandal.

It tells you something when the Commissioner has gone to capitol hill and testified several times that such tapes do not exist. That's obstruction of justice. The IT department is saying that nobody ever contacted them to ask about the existence of such backups.

Of course, we're in the middle of the "Most transparent administration in the history of the United States".
