Any where I can find Y500 Removable Ultrabay SLI Graphics GT750M discounted?

shlhu 102 May 12, 2013 at 08:17 PM
Just bought a y500 off the FP deal
Lenovo has
Y500 - Removable Ultrabay SLI Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce GT750M GDDR5 2GB
Part No. 0C22235
for 229 usd
It's available through student portal for 207.

Anyone know of a better price?

Planning to purchase a Crucial M4 msata 240 gb ssd to my my new y500 a truly awesome machine (for hopefully 160 or less when it comes on FP again, seems quarterly, so soon?), but the price tag on the 2nd gpu is really hefty

Barnes & Noble gold affinity portal has it for $196-ish. If you put it on a capital one visa, you get $20 off $200 at Lenovo right now (verify this in the 'Deals' tab in your account first), making it $176. If you have the 2% rewards card, you also get another whopping $4 in rewards, making it $172. Don't forget that you also need the 170w ideapad AC adapter to be able to run SLI. Google to find the signup for the B&N thing. If you can't find it, chat with one of the sales reps, and ask for the best price he can give you. Should be $196.something.

don't have a cap one visa, but thanks for reminding of Barnes and noble gold.

Are there still ways to get the 10% off site-wide coupon to stack with that? for some reason lenovo don't like my email address, but not sure if those would work

So, do you also have to purchase the 170watt power supply or does it come with the 750M? The power supply is like another 70 bucks. You def need this power supply to run sli.

Hmmm was just gonna shed the 70 for it, but it seems like lenovo and cdw.com both have it back ordered and nowhere else has it.

Any good replacement for it?

I'm giving you a word of warning. I bought the y400. Although the y400 and y500 are different, their websites all have the products listed incorrectly. The ultrabay Gn35 is for the y400 and the GN36 is for the y500. I originally purchased the GN35 because I was told that was for SLI. I received it and it's the GT650m. All the new Y400 and Y500 have GT750m. No go. I had to return it, order a new GT750m Ultrabay card, it arrived today.

...it's the GN36 GT650M for Y500 this time. Lenovo now has given me wrong information and made me purchase TWICE and still get it wrong. I chatted with them today and they said talk to their post sales team (returns) and they'd gladly put another order in.

This is the problem: Lenovo has the exact same UPC and Product Number for the new and old models.

Part number: 0C22235
UPC: last four is 0949

I'd suggest not buying this until mid summer. This one that arrived today was on backorder for almost a month. I had to wait only to find out it's the wrong and older one.
