Just to add some actual real world experience to the speculation...

The works fine if you already have directv and no sunday ticket. I have had directv for years, got this deal, signed up with the username and code, changed those to something easy to remember, and it works fine. Didn't have to call, sign up, play any games with anyone, nothing. 100% online, easy and it works. If you go to the site and sign in and get an error or cant watch, wait a bit as it takes some time for it to kick in especially if you change username/passwords.

Video quality is not as good as the directv hd broadcast, its softer, has some minor jaggies and a little problem with tearing on horizontal panning, especially when there are stripes in the picture. But its pretty decent.

This works fine with tab casting. An i3 is more than enough cpu, thats a 30% load on my i3 desktop. But with a hardwired gigabit connection and very clean wifi (no other devices using it, close to the router, good wireless throughput on the router) the PQ is even softer, has more jaggies and the sound isn't fully in sync but its not off a lot. Its watchable. The audio on the main tv hooked to the desktop goes out, but the picture continues.

Ask any questions in the thread, I'll keep an eye out as I continue to tinker with it.

Personal Clarification - I have used the Web NFL Ticket last year. In order to be eligible to use the internet package you need to be UNABLE to get DirecTV. The good thing is that this isn't a dead deal for any of you. When you call or sign up for the internet only package DirecTV has you confirm that you are unable to get service at your location, this could have been verified by a **3rd party installer** (directv will not have anything on record from their end since they didn't come out for the assessment, and they certainly won't waste man-hours on coming out to check each person's home). You tell them you attempted to get DirecTV, someone came out and told you that you couldn't get signal based on the way your balcony/patio was facing (if you live in an apartment complex), or you tell them the home you are in is a rented home and your landlord won't allow you to get a satellite on the roof and your trees are too high to put it on a tripod. They will have you confirm that you are unable to get service and will allow you to sign up. I had the REAL issue with my apartment complex but my parents own their home and they used the second issue with the trees and no line of sight for signal. We had ZERO issues and it was a smooth process with no hangups at all.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!!!

""There's been a bit of confusion as to what all this means. Yes, DirecTV is doing the deal because it hopes football fans might ditch their cable provider and sign up with them. But even if you live in an area with DirecTV access, and choose not to subscribe, you may still use the code to watch Sunday Ticket games on your computer, tablet or other mobile device. You don't have to subscribe to DirectTV."

This is the answer I was looking for (I am a DirecTV subscriber, but not NFL Ticket for this season):

Get a microusb to hdmi. Should take care of it.

You are one of only a few that has experience with this product. Can I trouble you to flesh out your review a little bit? Many people are on the fence about this, and some details regarding stream quality, resolution, functionality, etc. would be HIGHLY appreciated.

Let me chime in if I can. My DirecTV-connected TV last year was next to the room where the baby took her naps, so I had to use the online streaming downstairs.

I used a WiDi connection with a Netgear PTV 2000, and it was fine. It was good enough for me to decide not to renew Sunday Ticket and just do the Madden deal this year.

What kind of Internet connection/speed do you have. Did you consider it near HD quality?

I hope decent means an astronomical improvement over two years ago.

I used the streaming service for the 2011 season and it was horrible. No HD streaming, games would stutter horribly. Many times I'd click on the link to the game and five minutes in, it would freeze...sometimes permanently. SOME instances I had a clear picture the entire game...but that was hardly ever the norm.

I would hope that after another full season they got it right...but take my input for what it's worth.

I jumped on this Friday. I have a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 10 and am wondering of anyone has experience with Miracast functionality. I realize I can use a wired HDMI connection from my PC (or possibly HDMI from tablet if they don't block HDMI out from the app), but would prefer to stream wirelessly (and control remotely) from my phone or tablet.

Just wondering if anyone has thoughts / feedback on Miracast and / or recommendations on a Miracast receiver / dongle.

Is it possible for an app to block Miracast?
Any info on the above would be greatly appreciated. Specifically anyone with Miracast experience...

I was very happy with it, especially considering the price I paid for it (free, thanks to a friend with DTV letting me use their login).
On my Win7 PC with an upper teen Mbps DL speed the games usually streamed well, typically with minimal buffering/break ups. Not to say that this didn't happen occasionally, because it did, but it was tolerable. I would say it was close to HD quality. Leaps and bounds better than trying to watch a game via a random online stream.

I'm not sure I would pay the full $300 for it, but for $99 and including Madden which you can play/sell, etc. I'd say this is a very good deal.
