Just to add some actual real world experience to the speculation...

The works fine if you already have directv and no sunday ticket. I have had directv for years, got this deal, signed up with the username and code, changed those to something easy to remember, and it works fine. Didn't have to call, sign up, play any games with anyone, nothing. 100% online, easy and it works. If you go to the site and sign in and get an error or cant watch, wait a bit as it takes some time for it to kick in especially if you change username/passwords.

Video quality is not as good as the directv hd broadcast, its softer, has some minor jaggies and a little problem with tearing on horizontal panning, especially when there are stripes in the picture. But its pretty decent.

This works fine with tab casting. An i3 is more than enough cpu, thats a 30% load on my i3 desktop. But with a hardwired gigabit connection and very clean wifi (no other devices using it, close to the router, good wireless throughput on the router) the PQ is even softer, has more jaggies and the sound isn't fully in sync but its not off a lot. Its watchable. The audio on the main tv hooked to the desktop goes out, but the picture continues.

Ask any questions in the thread, I'll keep an eye out as I continue to tinker with it.

Personal Clarification - I have used the Web NFL Ticket last year. In order to be eligible to use the internet package you need to be UNABLE to get DirecTV. The good thing is that this isn't a dead deal for any of you. When you call or sign up for the internet only package DirecTV has you confirm that you are unable to get service at your location, this could have been verified by a **3rd party installer** (directv will not have anything on record from their end since they didn't come out for the assessment, and they certainly won't waste man-hours on coming out to check each person's home). You tell them you attempted to get DirecTV, someone came out and told you that you couldn't get signal based on the way your balcony/patio was facing (if you live in an apartment complex), or you tell them the home you are in is a rented home and your landlord won't allow you to get a satellite on the roof and your trees are too high to put it on a tripod. They will have you confirm that you are unable to get service and will allow you to sign up. I had the REAL issue with my apartment complex but my parents own their home and they used the second issue with the trees and no line of sight for signal. We had ZERO issues and it was a smooth process with no hangups at all.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!!!

""There's been a bit of confusion as to what all this means. Yes, DirecTV is doing the deal because it hopes football fans might ditch their cable provider and sign up with them. But even if you live in an area with DirecTV access, and choose not to subscribe, you may still use the code to watch Sunday Ticket games on your computer, tablet or other mobile device. You don't have to subscribe to DirectTV."

- Kotaku relaying information from Madden marketing director Anthony Stevens

What happens if you have DirecTV, but no Sunday ticket? Good deal if they still give you the 10$ off and Sunday Ticket.
From what I read in the terms, current DirecTV subscribers that don't have Sunday ticket get the shaft. This is a promo to sign up for DirecTV with Sunday ticket for new customers.

Also the regular Sunday Ticket does not allow the tablet/computer streaming, you need the ST MAX upgrade to do that, which is an extra $100 by itself (plus $200 for the ST) so this is a great deal whether you do not have the ST already, or just the ST without the MAX upgrade

It's a YMMV as to which one you are eligible for. Most people here probably want option 3, but I doubt many of us will get that.

wow that is an incredible deal. isn't sunday ticket usually like $300 for the season?

No, they gave it to everyone for free last year... I dunno why. Also, the fine print states that you must be a new customer and DTV always runs a special for new customers offering them Sunday ticket for free anyways so I don't think this deal is so hot...shake head

Easily say you live in an apartment or that your landlord wont allow you. I myself am unable to receive it after having two DirecTV reps come to my house so it's perfect for me! Thanks OP

Why wouldnt you? It's not hard to say that can't get DTV based on line of sight, or landlord restrictions. And if you already have DTV, then you get option 3 already. So either way, everyone gets option 3.

The fine print seems to suggest that even if you don't have DTV you can still get Sunday Ticket through a computer or tablet.

I think the big question is if it works through the PS3 Sunday Ticket App.

DTV only gives it free for new customers for the first year. This says if you cant get DTV (not allowed, or line of sight) then you get it. Price for ST without DTV subscription is $300, how is this not a hot deal?

I used to work for DTV. What you will be receiving will NOT work on ps3
