I'm looking to buy a bike for my work commute, Can you guys provide suggestions for a good road bike. Should I buy a cruiser or would that be too slow? There will some hills i will mostly be driving on paved roads or sidewalks (paved as well).
I bought a bike from walmart last year $60 and it didn't last me long. I mean the tire keeps puncturing and also its a pain to drive uphill so I'm not sure what I did wrong. My budget is low around $150. Don't know much about bikes so need help figuring out which way to go.
There is an answer in a question, and there is hope within despair
And there is beauty in a failure, and there are depths beyond compare
There is a role of a lifetime, and there's a song yet to be sung
And there's a dumpster in the driveway of all the plans that came undone
I'm assuming its a mountain bike? Sounds like a 21 speed from what you are describing. Perhaps get a bike with the skinny tires as the mountain bikes are slower and harder to ride on the roads.
This isn't necessarily true at all. There are 21-speed road bikes, to begin with.
Second, what makes you think that mountain bikes are "harder to ride" on city roads? Get a set of less aggressive tires and pop them on, and you'll have a much more durable bike suited for hilly climbs and poorly-maintained streets (at the price range OP is looking at). The last thing you want is a bent wheel on your daily commuter.
