I'm going to see if I can get DT to price match that $70 off. They have the Michelin Defender for $123.09 a tire compared to DT at $145 a tire.
FYI, DT price matched Sears and beat the OTD price by $3. Just submitted the rebate.

Got 4 Michelin Defenders installed for $528 after rebate.

Some decent deals here but I was hoping for the crazy Memorial Day tire sales of past. Some of these prices I see now I can negotiate most any day of the week without a rebate. Depends on the tire, but this "sale" is a lot of smoke and mirrors from DTD to get buyers to jump. I must say their strategy is working well.

did they PM after the 70auto ($70 off) coupon or just the price per tire?

If I buy a "Plus Zero" tire, will I be able to use my current wheels (oem steelies)? Will I have any problems having them installed, say at Walmart?

Thanks for any insight.

They PM the OTD price after the coupon. Sears OTD was $631 and change after the $70 coupon.

The DT price was originally $710.

Just got done ordering 4x Kumho Ecsta 4X KU22 225/50/r17 & 4x TPMS Rebuild Kits ($1 each!!) for $403 w/ tax in Texas. They did a price match beat and knocked $100 off and I'm still eligible for the $75 DTD & $50 Kumho rebates!!
How'd you manage a PM? Isn't DTD cheaper when they take their two giftcards into consideration?

Got 215/60R-16 General Altimax HP tires for $94 each. Other charges are $3 for disposal charge per tire, $16 for installation and life time rotation/balancing and $7.50 for TPMS rebuild for tire. Total is $482 + tax. I am qualified for $75 rebate. It comes with 55k miles warranty.
Is it a good deal. Otherwise, I can call and try cancelling tomorrow.

I am on my second set of Conti ExtremeContact DWS on my G35 sedan and have no complaints. If they offer this model for your own car, I highly suggest it if you are looking for the same features. I have never had any scares or doubts driving in the wet and dry is just as good. My second set was installed yesterday due to a small pin leak at about 45,000 miles and they offered me a $15 warranty on each tire (50,000 manuf warranty) since the tread wear indicators were low. When I removed the wheel from the car to look for the leak, I found that the tire design did a great job of channeling water away from the center. The water channel/groove angle increased as it reached the outer side of the tire and my soapy water quickly dispersed. I've never seen this on other tires I've used. For the higher cost of the tire you will in-turn get almost double the mileage compared to other tires and great wet handling. Other customers say that they have a soft sidewall, but how often are you on the race track.

Others have suggested looking at the reviews from AT/DT and TireRack. Another source I use are car forums specific to my car model where I would find opinions based on car model options (base, sport, luxury, etc.), wheel/tire size, and geographic location. My focus was to find an all weather performance tire with decent handling in the snow (CA Bay Area resident). Wet performance was my #1 factor and the Conti DWS was the best by reviews and by my own experience.

FYI, I would stay away from most (but not all) OEM tires that come installed on new cars. My experience has shown that they are frequently under-performing (terrible wear, handling, noise). Do as much research as you can since tires are your only contact with the ground moving XXXmph.

I would like to state that these are only my opinions and suggestions from my experiences with my past purchases. My cars ranged from grocery getting 95 Toyota Camry (upgraded later with lower suspension and 45series tires), compact coupe 03 Toyota Celica, 07 Infiniti G35 coupe 6spd sport prem, and 05 G35 sedan base model. I can give suggestions if your cars are in the same car classifications.

I was also told by AT that I can only choose the Visa prepaid card or Addidas card and not both. I wil give them both a shot and hope for the best.
I purchased the DWSs also but I was very close to purchasing the DWs. What swayed my decision was the 50k warranty vs no warranty for the DWs. Also living in the bay, I would've had no problem with the DW even in the wet season because it almost never gets near freezing here. But there are those nights when it gets down into the 20's where the DWS will perform better than the DWs. I purchased from DTD and you better believe they better accept the adidas and DTD rebates!

hey guys i am so confused now. I bought tires the first day this promotion started. I called to order and the reps didn't mention anything about rebates won't stack. Both manufacture and DTD rebates are listed on my receipt. I just checked DTD website again and couldn't find any info you guys posted here about rebates aren't stackble. Can somebody explain? Thanks.

Just got my tires installed at America's Tires Co. Kind of expensive, $20 for install, not tires sold by them. $3 for each tire stem and $1for tire disposal. Almost $25 per tire, almost $100 for all four. Should have gone to WalMart.

I also purchased the Conti ExtremeContact DWS 205/50/16

I went into my local store and haggled a bit with the sales associate there after doing hours and hours of research online. I was able to get the rep to give me a $25 instant rebate to cover the difference of the mail in rebate online vs the B&M rebate for Conti tires. I also got him to lower the price of the TPMS kit from $10 to $3 to also match DTD (he didn't even blink on this one, so I wonder how high their margin is on this one!). I was trying to get it lower by price matching the price of the tire vs tirebuyer.com but he wouldn't do it. Said I could only have the price match or the MIR rebate but not both. I probably could have got a better deal if I bought online and price matched first, but to be honest I was tired and just wanted to get it done. I'm also not sure if the Certs and TPMS kits were even necessary but I guess time will tell.

The total damage came out to be

Tire $123 * 4 = $492
Certificates $16.5 * 4 = $66
Fees $4.25 * 4 = $17
Install $16 * 4 = $64
TPMS $3 * 4 = $12
Instant Rebate -$25
Tax $44.01
Total $670.01
MIR - $75
Adidas Rebate - $100

That's the general idea with going plus zero. You can get a slightly wider tire on your stock rim sizes. You want to try and match the original overall diameter as closely as possible, because it can throw your speedometer/odometer off a little. There a bunch of calculators online that you can use like this one: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php

America's Tire / Discount Tire doesn't seem to mind installing non OEM spec tires in my experience. But I've heard places like Costco will give you grief and will only install OEM spec sizes. So it's best to call and ask.

I had been prepared to hop on this annual sale. But after pricing it just does not appear to be a great value. Maybe inflation is higher than advertised, it certainly appears to be in tires.

Any one purchased these tires? $7 for TPMS rebuild looks like a rip off.
