Any custom rom on any Android tablet with decent specs will have more software features than an ipad and be half the price or less

While I agree with your statement in that Apple makes more reliable products, Google's increasing popularity lies in Android's free license/open source platform that embraces and enable new innovative products to be streamlined for the public at competitive pricing. i.e. Smart watches & Smart camera.

You should be appreciative towards Google for pushing Apple's buttons or otherwise you wouldn't see the price drops on any of the Apple products.

FYI this does not charge through micro USB but via a barrel connector type charger.
Uggh. Terrible. Even if it was slow at charging a poor decision. Are you sure it can't take ANY power from the micro USB?

Apple is losing its popularity my friend. Have fun with your Iphone/Ipad (overpriced but suckas like you will continue to buy). Android gives us consumers options at different price points. If you don't like them don't buy them but plenty of people are sure buying Google powered devices.

I found myself at Walmart running errands and remembered the posts about this and the SERO tablets so decided to see if they were available. I picked up both the SERO Pro and this Nextbook 8".

It took me about all of 10 minutes with the Nextbook to decide that it's going back. For $99, the specs aren't bad, a bargain even, but the screen is absolutely terrible. I had to hold the thing about 15 degrees to the right to get it to look like it should while viewed straight on.

I bought (and returned) the Lenovo tablet from Staples because I thought that one had a bad screen, but this one gets the top prize for atrociousness. Not sure what they had in mind when they put together what seems like a decent tablet, then top off all their had work with a screen that's not viewable.

Anyways, for those that are on the fence on this one, I deplore you to skip this one. It's not worth the aggravation and headache (literally).

edit: this was at the Westminster, CA location by the way if anyone is interested in picking up the SERO.

thanks for the info.

so, are you keeping the Sero?
The Sero Pro sounds like it has everything I'm looking for, but I would really like to try an 8" tablet.

Bad screen, bad cameras, and the OP needs to realize that a company can put Jelly Bean on an old crappy tab, but that doesn't make it new. Looking at the various reviews for this, they stink.

Much better options all around this price range.

And no, there isn't any reason at all why anyone would need to waste $300 for a mini. My nook tablet with cm10.1 smokes the mini, my girlfriend and her kids have minis and they all want me to get them NT's so they can sell the mini as its slow and doesn't have an sd card slot. $80 vs $300 is a bit of a swing. No crappy cams on the NT, but I've still yet to run into anyone with a tablet that didn't have a smart phone with cams, gps and everything else sitting in their pocket.

Its like going into a thread for a $15k car and extolling the virtues of a Tesla. Stupid. laugh out loud

After owning many tablets, the screen is the most important aspect and expandable storage right behind that. Using/looking at a lousy screen isn't worth cost savings, and when your non expandable tab (like the mini) runs out of space it sucks you have to buy a new one to fix that problem, and pay out the wazoo just for a few bucks of flash. shake head

It will charge through the micro USB port. I have one and you can either use the charger it came with or a micro usb charger.

How do you like it? How is the screen? Does the mic work okay for Google Voice Search?
