Thread to tell people about a good stock you see, or think will be good
give it to me, or put it in the wiki, in this form to make it easy. I think this forum would be good for the "Hey I got 6k what should I invest in" threads we see all the time, as people will tell you why they like it and what they expect it to be.

I don't think the intention is to take the recommendation with absolute authority. I would expect each person to research the potential investment. There are 10s of thousand of stock plays and this could bring light to overlooked stocks.

Anyone that invests in something with zero research gets what they deserve... I dont follow much outside of the banking and electronics realm, but if someone said, "Hey i think Cooper tire might get bought, here is why"... that would have been nice to know look around

Fun thread!!

As for my contribution - I'm betting on Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS on the NASDAQ) and here's why.

PAAS is one of the largest silver producing companies in the world, and silver just about hit rock bottom this past week. Spot prices plummeted to just over $20 per ounce. Gold prices also plummeted, but I wouldn't invest in gold, for the simple reason that silver has major industrial value that should prevent it from ever spending significant time below $20 an ounce. That means that market confidence will be able to rally for silver in a way that it might not for gold (I'm not predicting gold will continue falling, I'm just not as sure that its prices will go back up in a timely manner). This creates an effective price floor for silver investors.

Worst case scenario, silver was massively overvalued when it was trading at $40-50 per ounce. I definitely think it was somewhat overvalued, but I see the prices going up above $30 by the end of the year, although they probably won't touch $40-50 for a very long time. Best case scenario it wasn't that overvalued and people just got scared and sold when they saw the market wavering. In either case, though, it shouldn't drop much further if any further (due to the industrial price floor), and when it stays consistent and starts to increase it could definitely get some momentum going and shoot back into the $30s.

Which, pardon the digression, brings us back to PAAS. While I think at this point it's a good time to buy silver (words I haven't typed or even thought in years), I think it's even better to buy major silver stock. For one thing, precious metals don't pay dividends. For another, in many cases the stock trends trail the spot prices, so if the market starts to fall for PMs, you'll have time to unload your stock if you so choose.

*Disclaimer:* I'm not an economist, nor do I manage any significant percentage of my own investments - although my track record is fairly good for the ones I have, but that just might be luck. Also obviously I've recently bought some PAAS, so I'm not unbiased.

From the REIT thread, I am going to go with O. Most income favorites have been getting hammered especially REITs, MLPs and certain dividend blue chips. O was trading at $55+ recently and has now fallen over 20% to bring its yield to 5%. It's probably the most solid retail lease REIT out there.

What about Silver Bullion? I haven't followed silver in awhile, but the logic adds up for sure IMO

Long term buy is GOL a brazilian airline that has a laundry list of problems but many wont matter with next years world cup and 2016 olympics. Currently a steal at 4.07 a good price target around 7.50 by next July.

In the Short Term a nice play is TVIX if it jumps below the $3 range and looking to sell around $4.50 ASAP.
What do you guys think?

Silver bullion follows the same logic - but two reasons I like silver-tied stock better are that 1) they pay dividends, and 2) they're easier to buy and sell, and usually have less fees attached. You need to have crazy connections to be able to buy silver at spot prices, but if you're buying a decent amount of stock the fees are pretty minimal.

INFU. Ryan Morris should give an offer to take the company private today.

Also, BAC, SWY, and FIATY are solid choices for long-term.
