I pulled the trigger...literally

41,172 2,080 June 19, 2013 at 01:09 PM in Finance
Bought my first firearm. Should pick it up at the dealer in a couple of days. Couldn't find one locally.

Springfield XDm 9mm. It felt best in my hand after shooting it, Glock 17 and 19, a Sig, and a couple of others.

It's my first gun, so don't give me a hard time about it being only a 9mm. Annoyed

Online research on 9mm's led me to the CZ. I was looking at a Glock 17 or 19, CZ, the XDm, a couple others.

Yeah, I won't be returning that other range that had a rental CZ but no ammo. It's hard to get (at least at a reasonable price) but weird to not have ANY. My regular range limits you to one box - but a box of 100 counts the same as box of 50 for their limit. Smilie

I didn't care for the other range anyway. I asked what the difference between the P01 and SP01 was, and the guy just said "I don't know." No attempt to find out. I was kind of testing him, and he failed.
Thats very very weak. Anyways enjoy Smilie welcome to the club. If we werent saving like pack rats I'd have a SHIT ton of more guns. My FIL literally owns 30 guns of all different kinds, so hopefully he starts slowly giving them to me as he gets older Stick Out Tongue

Two guys at work each have over 100 guns. Crazy laugh out loud

I don't see myself owning more than 3...I'm also getting a little bitty S&W Bodyguard 380. Might get a compact 9mm later. After that, I'd probably sell one if/when I get another - perhaps when I get a larger caliber pistol.

Danng thats alot of guns! How much did the bodyguard run you? that might be what I want to make my carry.

I'd recommend the 3 guns being a carry, a fun range shooter/side of bed, and a shotgun for home protection mainly. The shotgun would be best if your daughter is in her room as it'd power is disipated over a spread as opposed to a single bullet, and it's easier to hit a target in the dark with a shotty.

Not to mention just chambering a shell on a pump is liable to make anyone head for the hills before you even need to pull the trigger...

Yeah, I've been told I should get a shotgun. I don't need a permit for that, so it's a possibility (so there's a chance I'd max out at 3 handguns and a shotgun).

The Bodyguard was $380 shipped. Not a great deal...I later found out I could have gotten one locally for that, and they're in stock.

yes and this

Not sure if I like shoulder stock better than mine being a solely a pistol grip. I think for home defense the shouuld stock could get in the way? Any opinions on this?

It could I suppose, but I think if you're hip shooting, or just investigating a noise with no target yet, most of the stock would be against your side and within your normal body "envelope" anyway

I'm lame and sometimes ill just lay in bed and run through scenarios in my head. And this came into my head that I'd walk around with it off my shoulder, but if I had to shoot right then it would be hard to grip unless I brought it up to my shoulder. I dunno I'm anal about these kind of things

One thing about a long gun: I'm right handed but left-eye dominant. I'd need to shoot left-handed, right?

I'm the same, but I just one-eye with my right eye with a shotty or using a scope...

My bedside first line is a break-action coach gun, it shoots quite comforably from the hip with a stock...
