I pulled the trigger...literally

Bought my first firearm. Should pick it up at the dealer in a couple of days. Couldn't find one locally.
Springfield XDm 9mm. It felt best in my hand after shooting it, Glock 17 and 19, a Sig, and a couple of others.
It's my first gun, so don't give me a hard time about it being only a 9mm.

That said I love my S&W MP40
At least you don't need any of that to open carry.
First I wish my state (political issues apart since Federal Laws apply here) was a shall issue and open carry state.
Dues is correct open carry keeps the criminals away mostly, I think the blame goes to the media who has made people fear guns and by proxy those who open carry them.
Here the law clearly states that anyone with a carry permit must do it concealed. No open carry is allowed and everyone who wants to carry a gun on his person must have a permit.
the instructor for my CCW course knows the prosecutors of the two closest counties, and neither could find any local statute against open carry (individual municipalities can ban it). as he put it: it might be completely legal to walk around with a .44Mag on your belt, but here in the real world, you should expect a reaction from a lot of people walking down the street or in businesses who are not used to seeing other citizens openly carrying, and any policeman you see will probably ask how your day is going.
you would also have a lot of hassle with places that don't allow firearms. here, if you carry concealed into a place that has posted a No Weapons sign (basically none of which meet the state guidelines for visibility), it isn't a crime until you get caught and refuse to leave the property; if you get caught and leave peacefully, there's no crime and the police won't record it if it gets called in (rules are obviously different for specific places like federal government buildings). several friends and family members are like me and carry concealed almost everywhere with no issues, but if you open carried and walked into multiple shops around a shopping district, you'd constantly be having to conceal it or take it back to the car.

The one handed and weak hand were at close range, < 5 ft
Here we do 6 consecutive at 1 yard with our off hand, 3 at 3 yards with offhand and 3 one hand strong side at 3 yards. 12 at 7 yards, 12 at 10 yards, 10 at 15 yards and 6 at 21 yards.
For a total of 50, pass grade is 38 if I am not mistaken. You get tested twice in a row and must pass both times.
Also the police siren wailing and people yelling does not help.
I haven't ever practiced at longer distances, one handed, weak hand, or point shooting...all that is next. I think my local range is only 50' or so long, so I don't think I'll be able to practice at 21 yards or even close to that.
