I got my first Orient from this deal (URL below) going back a while, and paying $50 for this watch, I did not have high level of expectation but was hoping it would stay w/ in 1 minute [accuracy] in a month. I use a GPS to set time and it is accurate within <3 a few seconds a week, which is really nice, and it had a reserve indicator which is really easy to tell if the watch needed to be wound.
I don't try to swim/shower with it, because it's not designed to get wet, and generally unless a watch is specifically designed (screwed down watch and specifically designed with stamped 20bar (or waves logo on the caseback), I wouldn't try to swim w/ it.
I also got the Citizen Minute Repeater from Slickdeals a few years back, and it's been rock solid. (< 1 sec accuracy in 3 months), that is a super watch.
The 3rd watch I count on daily is a Seiko Kinetic Auto Relay I bought 12+ yrs ago when they first came out, and it is still working wonderfully to this day.
My Sekio 5 died when I was adjusting the time (and felt a bit of sticking), I then found out the hour dial wasn't fitted correctly and the "Minute Hand" bend it like 30 degrees and it's interfering with the minute hand and the second hands, making it effectively dead... and it's probably going to cost me more than what I originally paid for it to even attempt to repair it, so it's relegated to the broken-watch bin.
I agree that orient watches are great and I do have the blue mako and love it. Mine does not keep the time as well as yours, but I will have it service soon. I have showered and swam with mine and it is still holding up great. It is not as good as some diver watches, but it does hold up to getting wet.
I also have a "Planet" Orient in black(Orient Men's CFM00001B) . One of the best watches I have owned for the money. I have swam in ocean with it for the last two years and still looks nearly new. No degradation or corrosion at all... besides a slight scratch on the watch face a a few dings on the bezel, my fault on those....
The thing I hate about the Invicta is that it is always much bigger in real life than the picture seems. I guess it gives it bling factor but at my age I just want something that is more like a Rolex than a tank on my wrist.
Is this watch like HUGE like Invicta? Or more like most Seiko/Rolex?
This is clearly a nice deal on a functional watch that has it's purpose and audience/demographic.
But the comments of "great watch" are a bit ridiculous. In no world is this a "great" watch. Lol
For $100 yes it is a great watch, and a better buy than some Guess watch at Kohls. Of course you litteraly get what you pay for in low price ranges like this, no saphire, etc. I got mine at the $94 and enjoy it. Orient (owened by Seiko) makes good quality watches, thier work horses, not Rolex's. But w/e, to each thier own.
