GF worked there in HS. She said JC Factory may not necessarily be items that were in teh normal retail stores.
Not in my experience. It's exactly the same, but technically you are right. Good luck spotting the difference though
Last time I got a dress shirt for about $20. With shipping this is over $30 for the cheapest dress shirt.
Pass. I don't know why the prices are worse when it's 50% off
Factory shirts are not as good as the real thing. They use a lower thread count that feels more paper-like, and all the ones I have tried have shrunk after a handful of washes (no dryer).
There isn't a factory store near me, but I've purchased several items online and almost all of them were sold in regular J.Crew stores for the same price. I know they're the same, not only because they look identical, but they also have the same style number and use the same pictures/descriptions they do on jcrew.com.
The one true factory shirt I've purchased was a chambray. It's very nice and it's very difficult to spot how it differs from it's counterpart at the regular J.Crew store. In fact, I was at J.Crew yesterday contrasting them and the only differences I could spot was that the placket was a little different and the factory chambray has more of a sheen to it. Considering how the factory shirt is about $35 less, I'd choose it first every time. Neither of them are as nice as the chambray shirts at Uniqlo, although they do fit me better.
So, while I'm sure the factory shirts are not as nice, I haven't really noticed much difference and many of them are the exact same. The factory B&M stores may be a different story, but I've only purchased J.Crew Factory shirts online.
Btw, be sure to check when the items will ship, because you will wait. For instance, they have a short sleeve shirt that won't ship until October 29th and most of us will probably be wearing long sleeves by that time.
I've shopped at jcrew retail and I've shopped at their outlet store, but my first order w jcrew factory online was a huge disappointment. Bought a casual button down and it was seriously the worst piece of jcrew clothing I've ever bought. It didn't fit well and it was so thin that you could see right through it. I think for the quality that you are getting, you might be better off shopping at places like old navy for half the price
