Sears has it available for store pickup or shipped free if you have SYWM. Additionally, SYWR members earn 5% on the purchase. Amazon is temporarily OOS, but orders can still be placed for delivery when available.
According to Camel x3, the lowest it's ever sold for at Amazon is $34.62 and this is the second lowest. The Fiskars axe line has 5 stars out of 925 reviews here [amazon.com]. Product Description

Ideal for taller users or anyone who prefers a longer axe, the X27 Splitting Axe provides power that makes splitting medium-sized to extra-large logs easier than ever. Like every X-Series™ Hatchet or Axe, the X27 combines perfected weight distribution, advanced blade geometry, an ultra-sharp edge and virtually unbreakable design to maximize your performance. This combination of features allows the blade to disperse wood more effectively, offering more one-strike splits with each swing. It also includes our longest handle for increased leverage to maximize the power and speed of taller users. Since you can split wood more easily with the X27, each job requires less time, less effort and less hand strain. Lifetime warranty.
  • Splitting axe provides power and speed that makes splitting medium-sized to extra-large logs easier
  • Designed for maximum efficiency to give you more one-strike splits
  • Perfected balance and power-to-weight ratio increases swing speed to multiply power, much like an aluminum baseball bat
  • Ultra-sharp blade with a low-friction coating and bevel convex blade geometry disperses wood from the blade for clean splits
  • Stronger-than-steel FiberComp® handle won’t break through overstrike, and the PermaHead™ insert-molded axe head will not loosen or fly off

Thanks, I noticed I had $10 in random points today that I had to use so I bought the axe.

This axe rocks!!!

Only concern is that it chips easily, but if you take care of it you should have no issues.

I'm very tempted to get this for myself after seeing all the 5 star reviews, even though I already have a splitting axe. Too bad it chips like you say. Did it chip when it contacted something other than wood, like a rock?

It sounds like it could be better than some other axes for the Zombie Apocalypse due to it's light weight and durability. It isn't double bladed, so that could be a problem if it gets turned around while you're fending off a large group of zombies. It looks a little too pretty as well, so you might want to paint it flat black and wrap the handle with duct tape. Big Grin

Picked one of these up last year for woodsplitting season. leaps and bounds above any other axe, or using a wedge or maul. My only suggestion is to suck it up and add on the sharpener they sell. I had used my trusty double sided blade sharpener with some oil, and must admit although the head of the axe comes very sharp upon purchase it takes a lot of patience to get it sharp again with a regular stone and oil.
