I have upgraded to this cpu from a q6600. I have an old NVidia 8800gts oc video card, wondering if I should keep the video card or use the 4600 HD video build in the new cpu? any thoughts? Thanks.
The 8800GTS would be better for sure.

According to http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu
8800gts/320MB has same performance as integrated hd4600, 8800gts/512 is slightly better. I would suggest use hd4600 which directly supports DX11 and is more power efficient and quieter.

Why don't you fire up a game and see which gets better framerates? I'm also curious if a modern onboard grafx can equal an 8yr old grafx card.

ROG impact

tempted to order and return it to amazon (since i just paid $30 more or so last week at amazon), i'll have to check the return policy.

upgraded from a qx9650... pretty good time to upgrade, that thing ran hot at 3.4ghz.... i've got the 4670k at 4.2 on an h80 with the pump on low and the fans almost non-existent..... everything under 60c under load, even with all my fans at 20-30%.

(4670k, ROG hero, 8gb gskill, gtx760, arc midi)

I'm looking at getting the 3570k. Do you think the 4670k would be worth the extra $30ish (Microcenter bundle deal)?
no. unless you are thinking of trying to conserve as much electricity as you can and a green peace member... I have the 3579k. Will still be good for 5 or more years if I overclock it

A three year old chip that you can't put into any new motherboard, yep, people are probably falling over themselves to get one.LMAO
the 2500k is harder to get cause they are sold out of it in most places.

this new chip is readily available, but that doesnt mean it's better.

the 2500k has it's lid fluxless soldered onto it, with ivy bridge and this even newer model they just put cheap thermal goop under the lid.

Also the new tri gate transistors have problems getting the heat out of them. The last really good CPUs intel made were the Sandy Bridge.

But you are right with your sarcasm. People are not falling over themselves to get the old chip b/c most people aren't that informed about the above, like you.

granted the IPC will be higher on this newer chip meaning you dont have to over clock it as high to get good performace, but the 2500k will probably overclock 1,000 MHz higher than this leaving it in the dust, even tho its 3 years older. And once the load is taken off the cpu (2500k) the chip will almost instantly drop down in temperature to almost idle temps (really in like 1 second). This new chip will get hot and stay hot. Enjoy.

they arent in every state though. i know they have them in cali, florida, illinois, and texas to name a few.
I guess my point is, as long as they have a physical store in your state, you will get taxed. IL has a tiger direct store, I live within 5 miles from one, and I get taxed

I've been saving money to build my first computer. Can anyone convince me on why I should or shouldn't jump on this deal?

How did the overclocking results turn out? After I saw the laughable performance increase over a cpu 3 years old, I stopped watching. Can these hit 5ghz on air?

Is this the Haswell CPU to get if you want a high-performance overclockable CPU but can't afford or justify an i7? I.e. is this the current "sweet spot" CPU in terms of power/money?

Haswell is a FLOP! if it wasn't this thread would have 10+ pages by now.

I rest my case!

Good luck, whether it's on air or without delidding.

I was going to go Haswell until I saw how little improvement there is after overclocking each to their max under water (after delidding the Haswell).
