Nashbar AT1 29er Mountain Bike $242.98 Shipped [nashbar.com]

Bike sales are pretty common at Nashbar, but it is rare to find a 29er in this price range so I thought I would share. Reviews are decent, seems like it is a good entry level 29er.

Compare At:$499.99
Sale Price $249.99
Promotional Discounts -$50.00
Subtotal $199.99
Shipping & Handling** $42.99
TOTAL*
$242.98

This deal is part of a20% off "Sunday Sell Off" sale with some other items [nashbar.com]. Nothing great in the sale except this 29er IMO.

A few decent frames are priced right if you were looking for this type already.

SE Draft Lite frame for singlespeed [nashbar.com] $80.19 shipped

Nashbar Carbon Frame and Fork [nashbar.com] $500.98 shipped

I ride a steel frame 28" in europe and never notice it being too heavy. HOWEVER, I use it mostly for transportation on paved and gravel roads and not for competing against other mountain bikers on a trail. If you used a steel bike for that, you would get a more intense workout than the rest of the riders and it would build character. laugh out loud
(It also has V-brakes like this one and I never notice them being inadequate for my use).

You afraid to blast your quads bro?

But seriously, the frame is only part of the weight. A mountain bike with big 29" wheels and front suspension is going to cost a buttload to get it anywhere near the "light" range. You end up paying hundreds more to save a few pounds.

I like the stiffness of a steel frame anyway. Any Long Haul Trucker fans out there?

On non-sundays, a lot of times they'll ship the bike for free to you. So it's probably only $7 more on a regular day.
