Deal Details

Hey all,

Figured I should post this separately, thought someone would have posted by now but couldn't find anything. Adding the YMMV just to be safe since it's B&M. It's my first post, not entirely sure what i'm doing shake head

Sports Authority in-store coupon

Direct link [sportsauthority.com] to coupon on Sports Authority site.

Just got back from my local Sports Authority (NYC, Northern Boulevard) -
I'd been eyeing these last week with the 15% off coupon but decided to hold off, got plain lucky today checking for online coupons while at the store.

Printable coupon for $100 off $300 (I showed it to the cashier on my phone) worked for me today. I was there to exchange some shorts i'd bought so the total was a little over 300 for me anyway. Hard part was getting the package home.

I might have left the receipt in the store, I was too busy struggling to carry the box + bag. Bring some help, it's kind of a chore by yourself. Also, a car would really help.

For price comparison: $299 on Amazon (same price at Sports Authority)

Anyone know if I could fit these into a small car? I've a got a Nissan 300zx...
These should fit fine in any car (except for maybe a smartcar). If I remember correctly the box was something like 30" x 20" x 20". If you're lugging it up 4 floors like I did, you can take the weights out of the box and do one at a time.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys Smilie

I'll rep you when I get home with my weights (that will probably sit in the corner, forever... mocking me), I don't want to get sniped by another dirty SD'er. Off, bit%^s.

I suppose, if someone really wanted the bench and the stand (and sports authority offers it, a big assumption) -- they could always try and use the coupon twice.

Any suggestions going with this... or waiting for a deal directly from bowflex (with the stand and bench)? I've been waiting since March, when I let the last deal pass me by...
Is that deal $100 more with stand? I think I'll try to get this tomorrow and find something at home to set them on. I can't remember how often the Bowflex deal comes around either. The longer I wait the fatter I'll get.

Have a friend purchase it... Wink or go to two stores... or go on separate days... or wear a fake mustache.

Here is the March deal (that I've been waiting for to return):

It looks like Sports Authority has the stand, but not the bench. I suppose any bench would work (and going from memory, I believe the bench was a weaker part of that deal).

Where did you get the coupon?
Googled "sports authority coupon" while standing in front of the weights in-store. You can find it most easily on retailmenot

Like the other poster asked, how big are the boxes? Not sure why, but I giggled at your car comment. I assume a bottle of Gatorade at the front of the store is good enough to get over the $300.

I'm guesstimating 20x20x30 ". And yeah, pretty sure the bottle of Gatorade would do it. It would also feel amazing after getting the weights home in the heat. I was laughing at myself in the store, too, I didn't have a car since I hadn't planned on buying these. Had to lug em to the curb and hail a livery cab ($10, still slick? Smilie).

Yeah, i'm assuming that would work too. As far as I know they do stock the stand. They didn't have it in stock at my particular location but I don't really see the utility in getting it. You just get more of a workout putting the weights back on the floor. The bench would be useful but I don't see it on their website and I didn't see it in store.

They are a good set of weights. Bought them from SA when they were $250 and used a 20% friends and family coupon for another $50 off. While you're there, you may want to sign up for their rewards program. I got an initial $5 for signing up and another $11.25 for buying the weights. Used them to buy a set of weight lifting gloves.

That being said, I will regurgitate what everyone says about how you'll outgrow these pretty soon. I knew that when buying these, but couldn't find a better deal on 1090s or PowerBlocks. And figured that if I outgrew them then that was money well spent. Also after looking at Craigslist, these weights tend to keep their value quite well so you'll probably be able to get your money back if it comes to that. However, if you aren't in the immediate need for these or are fairly strong, I would look into getting something heavier. I finished my first round of P90x and am getting to the point where I'm lifting 45lbs in some of my routines.

BankAmeriDeals for me has 10% of Sportsauthority.

Anyone think this would work for the purchase?

Depends on your state tax. If you're too lazy to bust out your calculator or even type out (199.99 x .08 (for 8%)) online, forget buying these weights man! laugh out loud
