Unable to Power Dell Mini 1012 Inspiron after Replacing LCD
Trying to Replace LCD Screen on my Dell Mini Inspiron 1012. Forgot to remove the battery. Replaced the display, laptop will not power on now. When I connect the AC Adaptor to the back the LED Indicator on the adaptor faintly switches on and off. Removing and reinstalling the battery did no good. And there is no charge to the laptop. I can't seem to power the unit on after changing the LCD. Now what?
There are so many things that can go wrong when cracking a laptop open, or is this the type where you can change the screen without taking the body apart.
#1 is to make sure all the connectors are properly connected again.
#2: what is it that you call "the adapter"? Do you mean the charger? If so, are you saying it has a light on it and it's now fainter than it used to be? If so, either the charger is weak or the laptop is shorted out and gobbling up the charger's power.
#3: Assuming that everything is back together again and the laptop won't boot and the lights that normally come on, don't, you could try pulling the cmos battery for 30 seconds or so, with the charger disconnected and the battery removed.
#4: When I first started repairing laptops and would put one back together that didn't work, I would tear it all apart again, and build it back up very carefully, a second time.
All of this is just guessing, as I don't know the machine, nor what you have done to it so far.
