So, in an attempt at keeping our discussion going about the ways in which we are trying to eat healthier/lose weight and be more active in our lives. I thought it would be nice to have a specific thread dedicating to encouraging and sharing tips and ideas for those of us yearning for a more active lifestyle.

We all may have differing opinions on games, consoles, and Curtie's analogies, however I think most of us can agree on the need for a more healthier lifestyle!

When my ex broke her finger and had to get surgery, she asked the doctor if she'd be able to play piano. He asked if she could play it before, guess that's what happens when you're an orthopedic surgeon who deals with a lot of hand injuries laugh out loud

Look for the cauliflower pizza crust we talked about earlier in this thread. It's actually quite tasty and can hit the pizza craving.
Spam bot...that is one of my earlier posts, word for word.

What the heck is the point of posting spam like that? That's just weird. Thanks for the heads up though. Is that how we got onto the pizza topic in the first place? lol

I've known about cauli crust for a long time but have yet to make it. I need to get off my arse and just do it already. Maybe Sunday...

I finally dropped the weight I gained on vacation. 3 lbs this week. Lot's of bike miles and closing the diary with a negative net cal balance will do that I guess. Wink

It is farily time-consuming but I think it is worth the effort.

Just make sure you get all the moisture out of the cauliflower that you can. That's a big part of making sure it doesn't end up crumbly.

I get that, heck it fooled me, but what purpose does it serve? Is there some magic way to make money from posting in forums I don't know about?

After a number of posts they'll normally update the profile to include links, or start spamming links to various sites in posts. SD is pretty good about shutting them down before they get to that point.

Down 14 lbs. since Aug. 5th. Even ate fast food a couple times, but kept it around 400 calories each time! Helped satisfy my cravings without going overboard.

38 lbs to go!

I'm down 10-11 lbs since August 7th. I think I could have done a lot better if I wasn't completely inactive for a week of that. If it weren't for this contest I would be done losing weight but I am sticking with it. Hopefully I can lose close to another 10 lbs by 10/1 but we'll see how motivated I am.

One thing I wanted to add since last time, was about how important (and often overlooked) sleep is when it comes to being healthy and keeping the weight off.

Quote :
In addition to getting enough physical activity, another key component is sleep. In recent years, sleep deprivation has been increasingly linked to obesity. Experts believe that not getting enough shut eye can cause alterations in glucose metabolism leading to insulin resistance, an increase in appetite, and a decrease in energy expenditure. Try for eight a night - to help the weight fight!

Thanks for the tip! I do OK with sleep but that is a good reminder. My 14 lb. loss has also been with ZERO exercise, which I think is pretty crazy.

good shit. This is just what I needed to see today. I'm back on track as of today as I've just completed a bulk phase and will be joining you guys on this. I'm going without all forms of sugar, bread, rice for the next two weeks (unlimited veggies allowed), after two weeks will reincorporate low glycemic index starches like sweet potatoes. At some point I'll reincorporate fruit (about a month) and whole grains (but that comes MUCH later).

Will post weekly losses. Short term goal...get through today! laugh out loud

btw, I agree godfather...the whole sleep thing is HUGE for recovery (for lifters) and weightloss. HUGE
