More changes and opportunities to leave Sprint. Found these on my bill today.

Effective 9/1/13, the Administrative Charge will increase to $1.99 per line per month for customers subject to the charge. For Details on surcharges, visit sprint.com/taxesandfees [sprint.com]and review your wireless service agreement.

The current charge is $1.50.

Effective 10/1/13, GPS Services, Sprint Navigation and Telenav GPS Navigaor, will be removed from bundled data and data add-on plans. For info on GPS Navigation alternatives (varies by device, visit http://www.sprint.com/navsupport.

They do list specific phones, and my mom still has a Palm Pre, which is on the list. If you have an older phone with is on the list, I supposed you could switch to it to help escape. .

I called tonight, Aug 26th, and citing the removal of GPS services, they are letting me out of the contract without ETF. Note, I did have a Palm Pre active on my plan, but as an additional precaution, I put a bunch of old phones on my account, two protect the ESN of my Iphones.

Early Termination Fees appeared on account but after calling having them pull up previous conversation, they are removing them.

As of 9/11/2013 the ETF have been credited. Na Na, na na na na, hey hey hey, good bye!!!

well looks like employee of the month supervisor decided to graciously "notate" my account that I will not get out ETF free because of multiple calls regarding the same subject and these changes didnt apply to me. Went on about material changes not applying to the GPS or Administrative fee.

I started with a chat online and was told that they can't waive the ETF thru chat and promised to have a member of the dedicated team call me within 24 hours. A nice rep called me as promised. He asked what the issue was and I told him I wanted out of my 2 phone contact without ETFs due to the removal of the Gps features as everything else stated and he said no problem and noted my account for me. We have 2 GS3s and those are eligible. Woohoo!! I've been trying to get out for months!! Smilie

How does "multiple calls on the same subject" invalidate your argument? You know, their behavior here makes me think that eating the $180 fee or whtever it is for me right now to ETF is worth not having to do business with them any further.

yeah I am right there with you. I am considering paying the 150 for my ETF and just being done with them too. I have been trying since july's changes, and have seen others easily call or chat them up and get out with no issues. He basically looked at my previous calls and said " well i see here that you have called in and been told the same thing about getting out of your ETF before" , he then said " you calling in multiple times about trying to have your ETF waived will not change our answer, and I will make sure to clearly notate this in your account"

I honestly have never had problems with their customer service or tech support like this before, it almost seems like they are trying to squeeze every last penny from their current customers because they know they are losing profits to their competitors. If it wasn't for their crappy service I wouldnt mind staying for their price, but I can't even use my sprint phone at home without the Airave booster they provided. They also conveniently added that with its own contract on my account as well so I will also have to pay an ETF for a device I shouldn't even be required to have for service in the first place.

So does this just cancel the contract or are the phones also disconnected?

They cancelled both contacts. We will be moving our numbers from Sprint at the end of our billing cycle in a few weeks.

Unfortunately the small print in the contacts reads that Sprint will not refund final bills if you terminate before the end of the billing cycle. What a great company...

I just chatted and they told me that there shouldn't be a problem because there's google maps, but they suggest I call a 800 number. Oh its on......

I am thinking of bailing on Sprint, I have a Galaxy S4 but I am thinking of telling them it's broken and switching service back to a Q9 I have from years ago, and is on the list of unsupported devices, then cancel and switch to Ting. Anyone think I would have any issues with doing this? I am currently on a Sero plan spending $50 a month, so Ting won't be significantly cheaper and I'll still have crappy Sprint service, but if I add other phones to the plan, that's where I'll really save compared to Sprint considering I only use about 100 minutes and 650mb per month. I like Ting because their texts are international, where Sprint charges a lot extra for that.

I called yesterday and a nice lady in account services notated my account for a waiver of the ETF fee when I cancel the account. They did not cancel the contract, just notated that account for the waiver. I was also provided an interaction # for reference.

After an hour and 3 reps - got nothing. Wouldn't even give me a discount on the new sprint navigation bundle pack. Jerks.

Hi,

Saw that you had good luck waiving your ETF. May I ask how many lines you have and what phones?

I talked to a supervisor who was a real dick and they wouldn't budge and that Sprint's "official position"

I have 4 lines: iphones, HTC, and Motorola Q9c, but it shouldn't matter what phones you have. It's a material change.

Thanks,

Brett

**edit: sorry, meant to send this as a private message. But if anyone else has had luck, please feel free to comment. Smilie

I just called retention (855-444-7028)

Spoke to a rep told them that I need to know when the cut off date to decide is. Supposedly since the service doesn't go into effect until October 1st...we have until December 31st to cancel.

I really doubt we have 60 days to cancel but whatever that is not my plan anyways. He annotated my account and said I should have no issue canceling one line later.

Stick with the GPS change, as stated by others the admin fees are not substantial enough to void the contract.

I've been looking to get out of my sprint contract as I have fallen in love with Tmobile. I don't need two services.

With this contract change, what are the steps I need to take to get out of an ETF?
