Thread Details

More changes and opportunities to leave Sprint. Found these on my bill today.

Effective 9/1/13, the Administrative Charge will increase to $1.99 per line per month for customers subject to the charge. For Details on surcharges, visit sprint.com/taxesandfees [sprint.com]and review your wireless service agreement.

The current charge is $1.50.

Effective 10/1/13, GPS Services, Sprint Navigation and Telenav GPS Navigaor, will be removed from bundled data and data add-on plans. For info on GPS Navigation alternatives (varies by device, visit http://www.sprint.com/navsupport.

They do list specific phones, and my mom still has a Palm Pre, which is on the list. If you have an older phone with is on the list, I supposed you could switch to it to help escape. .

I called tonight, Aug 26th, and citing the removal of GPS services, they are letting me out of the contract without ETF. Note, I did have a Palm Pre active on my plan, but as an additional precaution, I put a bunch of old phones on my account, two protect the ESN of my Iphones.

Early Termination Fees appeared on account but after calling having them pull up previous conversation, they are removing them.

As of 9/11/2013 the ETF have been credited. Na Na, na na na na, hey hey hey, good bye!!!

If I renew now am I automatically agreeing to this policy or can I then talk about breaking contract on September? My contracts been up for like 6 months but my $50 plan is so cheap I can't even look anywhere else.
That's something you will probably have to ask them about personally. But if you're contract is up, why bother renewing? save yourself the trouble and keep shopping around on providers. I'd recommend giving Ting a look.

I called Sprint and mentioned about the Administrative Charge increase to $1.99 per line per month. I also came across this info (Effective 10/1/13, GPS services, sprint navigation and telenav gps navigator will be removed from bundled data and data add-on plans) here. I mentioned about it too. I told that these are material changes and hence, I would like to cancel my contract without ETF.

The rep tried to convince me to stay with Sprint. I said sorry and requested the rep to cancel the line without ETF. The rep said that the line would be cancelled only at the end of billing cycle and gave me a reference number for ETF waiver confirmation. It just took about 5 minutes.

Thanks OP and to others who have contributed to various Sprint threads.

I contacted Sprint via chat regarding the GPS service changes coming 10/1/13 and they allowed me to cancel my 2 lines without ETF. They said the changes don't apply to iPhone and Android phone, just basic phone, Windows phone and Palm phone. I had a basic phone and a Palm phone.

Are you cancelling or just voiding contract without ETF?

They originally cancelled both lines at the end of billing cycle. I had a 2nd chat the day after and told them to un-cancel the lines since I only wanted to void the contract. They cancelled the original cancellation order and my contracts were shown fulfilled.

Nice. That is what I am looking to do. Why I don't know, because I am not switching providers, but it is nice to have options I guess.

So is it my understanding that the only complaint that will allow you to cancel your contact is if your device is one that will not be able to access GPS/TelNav?

I'm on a family plan and would like to cancel 1 line or even keep my services just not locked into the contract. Can anyone help me out?

Can someone clarify for me? I am on an android...but I want to get out of contract using this as the excuse. Will this work? I'm getting confused...b/c of the comments about the gps factor not being applicable to non-android/-iPhones. Thanks.

In my opinion what phone you have shouldn't matter. You have a contract and now they are removing a feature. Whether you use it or not RIGHT NOW doesn't determine if it is a material change. Who knows, maybe in the future you would want to use this feature.

Just called into Account Services and I'm done....I can leave without paying ETF fees.
