Macy's Furniture Sales

How often does Macys' furniture go on sale??

We really wanted to buy a new sofa from there during a sale for $999 + 10% off that ended yesterday. We couldn't get rid of our current sofa in time so we didn't purchase. Today the sofa is back up to $1399. My hubby is ticked off that we didn't buy then. I'm really hoping for a Labor Day sale that will repeat this deal.

What do you SD'ers think---wait for Labor day or even later?

Does Macy's repeat sales like that?

We bought sofas from them just a few months back, in a similar situation. The rep we talked to marked it down on the spot to the previous price. I was paying in full with cash vs financing if that makes any difference. It was also the second time we'd seen the couch on sale - they were consecutive without a break, or if there was a break it was really short.

Previously we bought a curio cabinet from there, and when we went to look for it we got the card of the person who had come up to us while we were there. When we finally got around to measuring the space where it was to go and got back, the sale had ended. We flashed the card we had and that sales person rolled the price back.

The markup is huge - they'd rather have your sale and commission now than a potential of a future, I'm sure.

I was in Macy's yesterday, contemplating a sofa under a similar pricing deal (lower price + 10% off) and the salesman told me just to ask for the sale price if I made a decision in the next few days. He said worst case scenario, they would charge me without the 10% discount and then refund it to me, as the sale is through the store and not the manufacturer's pricing. Haven't done it, but he seemed to feel it was a pretty easy thing to extend the sale if I just asked and reminded them I had been in shopping DURING the sale. Good luck!

Ive had a nightmare of a time with a bed we bought back in January. The first bed had a defect and took 2 months to get it swapped out. We had it on the Macy credit card for the interest free 24 months. Well still till this day we have been trying to get the credit straight and our worry no more warranty back. They took it off when the bed was swapped but we still paid for it. Anyway it has been crazy and we almost or are ready to just give it back. We shop the rest of the store with no problem.
