Update: I just got my account unfrozen thanks to the help of ElanX from venmo. With one email, she helped me more than the guy handling the emails at support@venmo.com. They should employ more helpful people like her for their company to help their potential customers! I guess not everyone at venmo is all bad and there is some hope for this company to be good. Now I can finally try their service and see if I like it, hopefully.

Mmmmm it feels so good to be right. ElanX from venmo? You mean ElanX from Slickdeals dont you? I for one do not peddle my personal sales items on slickdeals because I respect slickdeals rules regarding such things. I am wondering why ElanX has not been banned yet for clearly violating TOS and lying to this community causing its members no end of troubles? Why is that?

Still live as of 5:09pm EST Friday.

Must complete identity verification to get your $7. Requires full name, zip code, birthdate, and last 4 of SSN. (no credit pull)

Reviews for the Android version on the Google Play Store:

Do not go to the app store or play store and download the app!

1) Open the following link and type in your phone number then hit share:

https://venmogives.com/?code=androidpolice

2) Open the text message from Venmo and click the link they send to download the app.

3) Add your personal information (real birth date, real zip code, real last four of SSN)

4) Go to your Account page to see if your ID was verified:

https://venmo.com/account/settings/account

5) If there is a link saying 'verify here' your ID was not verified successfully. You may have entered incorrect information, you may already have a Venmo account or there may have been an error on Venmo's part.

If you're still not getting the $7 go to https://venmo.com/account/settings/account and edit your phone number like this quote says:

Everyone that thinks it is dead go to your phone number. Push edit and erase the digit 1. You will get your $7 immediately(If not sooner)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you're still having trouble, send an email to promo@venmo.com with the phone number you used, and all the steps you've taken, and they'll try and help.

nah, just a convenient way to send money. IIRC venmo limits you to a certain number of cards lifetime, think its not more than 3-4

Ok, I got this thanks OP repped great deal : )...How do I use the $7 in my Venmo balance? I looked it up online and am still confused! I add a debit or credit card, and Venmo makes my payment with my debit or credit card, using my Venmo balance first?? Is that how it works?

you can link a bank acct and withdraw. they dont do partial funding with acct balance. if you send $8, it's all card/bank funded.

One thing the comments in the article pointed out was that if you sign up with a Google Voice number (or possibly anything else non-standard) just go create an account at venmo.com or through the app store and when you add/change your phone number, your $7 credit should show up.

How long does it take to get your $7? Got the text, installed the app, signed up and show $0 balance. TIA

I guess I can be considered "old school", I prefer paypal since I have it already and it's just one more account that I do not need.

I did fix how to get the $7 dollars though.

I registered with a google voice number and registering on your phone I believe defaults it to your real phone number.

So you have to share it on your computer with your google voice # then log on to www.venmo.com then register a new account under your google voice number and voila your $7 will show up.

Don't need to install app.
