Damn just spent my extra $$$ on a new receiver and pc v/card , but I may have to stretch things and upgrade my older/smaller RTi's or go for different center over my smaller Martin Login .

Is this a legit website? Can't tell if the checkout is secure. There are dead links for things like privacy policy and conditions of use.
Site is legit , as I got a direct email from Polk about this sale and the link and all is correct .

...thinking of getting a sound bar. How do the SurroundBars stack up to the competition? Looking specifically at the 5000 [polkaudio.com], which is going for $150 lower than Amazon.
Ditto. The 5000 is rated 4.6 on 14 Amazon reviews. And the 6000, just 50 bucks more on the Polk site, is rated 4.0 on 159 reviews, has two more drivers than the 5000, and the sub is a bit bigger.

Anybody know of any reason not to get either one?

They look great and I'd love to have a set. But beyond the initial expense, I know I'd need to amp up (no pun intended) my receiver. 135wpc just won't cut it.
If you want them and (obviously) don't have an issue with the expense, I'd highly consider purchasing them anyway and think about the amp later.

This is Polk's top of the line set and from all of the reviews I've read these are some of the best speakers they've ever made. These speakers are also sold in very, very few places, making further discounts not as likely. I'm not sure it's going to get much better than 50% off of the MSRP for these speakers for years to come.

So for the folks who want to step into the mid-range class, are the Polk monitor series still the best bang for the buck? Im no audiophile but currently doing my research for the next thing after I retire my Energy Take Classic 5.1..
Will be used strictly for movies.
TIA

A lot of people I've heard from have said they don't like that sub.

I just finished compiling a Monitor II setup in both of my "rooms" -- 70 IIs / CS2 II / 30 IIs for surrounds in one location, 40 IIs in the other. I've got about $550 in one of the setups (from Polk Audio's E-bay store) and about $425 in the other one (the CS2 and 40s were used). I think they are amazing sound for a "mid level" speaker package. I know they are Polk's "entry level", but...

My previous package was a Jamo S426 HCS3. For $125 - $150, unbelievably tough to beat. But if you've got more money to spend, the improvement in clarity, fidelity, etc. is amazing when you jump up to the Monitors. I frequent the AVS Polk Audio forum and there was a guy who recently disconnected his higher end Polk Audio speakers and reconnected his 70s and fell in love with them all over again, especially since he connected it to an Emotiva two-channel amp.

In terms of movie viewing, with my Monitors and BIC F-12 subs (two in a 5.2 config), "movie night" has been taken to a whole new level. Sound effects are big and bold. Dialogue is clear. Finer details are noticeable (footsteps, sound effects). The way shell casings ping as they bounce off the floor is impressive.

I don't even see the monitor series listed on their website as a current model. I think they are sold on newegg only, at least that's where I've only seen them.

Great deal by the way, I picked up a pair of RTI A3 and CSI A6 for a great soundstage setup.
Yeah, the Monitor series (specifically the 'New Monitor 55T/65T/75T, etc.) are exclusive to Newegg.

It had gone as low as $80 quite recently and when you added the v.me checkout - got it for like $72. It is whimper compared to the PSW505 which I got for around $150 and $180.

The RTIA9's are very very tempting, but don't want to spend $750 for the pair.

Anyone have any experience with the soundbar systems, preferably the 3000 or 5000 models? Between these, the Boston Acoustic sets and the Pinnacle set over on Woot, I'm a tad confused on what to get.
