Hey guys thought I'd share this.
Mitsubishi - 73" 1080p 120Hz DLP HDTV WD-73837
$499.86
SKU: 9330841

First time starting a thread, sorry if this doesn't work well.
It's in-store pick-up ONLY, not available for shipping. I'm guessing this is pretty rare. Most clearance TV's said open box, but this one didn't, and simply said clearance and limited supplies. I wasn't planning on getting a tv any time soon but today I got a very thin red vertical line on my 51 Plasma Samsung 3D. Since I've been toying with having a 2nd tv in the same room to watch baseball while I'm gaming I'd figured I'd check out what's on store clearance. My store in Central Cali had this tv marked down 2300 off original price. I tried to talk myself not into getting it, but ended up placing my order for it with football season coming up 73" is a no brainier (espc with 4.8 rating out of 5 star reviews) IMO for this price for me anyway. Haven't checked where else this may be popping up at this price, so feel free to check you local area if you care about tv size, and aren't too big on latest technology.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Looks like that model is from 2009-2010. Good luck to anybody looking for one at their local BB. OP, which Central Cali BB did you find it at so those of us in the area know to skip that store if we go searching?

You should probably put that it's a DLP in the title, making this not a very good deal.

Why wouldn't this be a good deal?

I've had mine since last Christmas and couldn't be happier. For $500 this is a no brainer if you have the space for it.

How anyone that say a 73" HD TV for $500 is not a very good deal is beyond me...

I personally own this TV and the picture is phenomenal. Gaming on this thing is an absolute joy as is watching tv or movies.

If hanging your TV on the wall isn't a requirement, this is a phenomenal deal at $500 assuming you can actually get it.

I agree with the others. I got my 73" DLP from Best Buy for $699 a couple years ago. I love it and have no need for hanging my TV on the wall.

Agreed. Except for the gaming which I don't know. I love the warmth of a DLP. It's something I just don't see in LED/LCD. Don't watch many plasma so I can't comment on that. If you can find this you won't be sorry. At that price it's a throw away anyway.

To find your local best buy clearance items do the following...
go to bestbuy.com
click on store locator
enter your zip code
click on your city/store number
for example "Peoria IL (store 207)
on the left side under the picture click on "clearance and open box items"
that will give you a list of all items available at your local store only
you're welcome

I've had my Samsung DLP 50 for years. I absolutely love it. I also love explaining to people that their brand new "LED TV" isn't an LED TV, but mine is.

The Mits is a slightly different technology, but still an unbelievable picture.

If I had room for anything bigger, I'd have bought one of these Mitsubishis over the past year or so when they've been on sale at HH Gregg and other places.

Great set, I've owned a similar model for 2 years. No complaints, and every single negative thing anyone ever said on any thread here about it is BS from people who never owned it and had some problem with some other DLP set years ago. I'm impressed with the number and trolling level DLP sets draw, and I'm sure they'll be along shortly to make all sorts of claims that aren't true about a set they've never owned.

Its cheap, big, dark scenes in a brightly lit room are no more or less viewable than any of the led/lcd sets I own, the bulb lasts 5-7 years and costs about $70-80 to replace. Only complaint I have is the internal speakers suck for a large cabinet tv. They really could have blown $10 on the speakers instead of a buck. Zero bass and not much volume.

Since I have a home theater pc, a directv box, xbox 360, ps3, roku, blu ray player, audio receiver, a bazillion speakers, etc, etc...mounting a tv to the wall and then having all that stuff in a cabinet under it taking up the same exact floor space as the tv does made zero sense to me.

Not sure if this model has 3d, but mine does and it looks fantastic for movies and for games. I have to kick my kid off of it all the time while he's playing arkham city in 3d, and he has a 65" sharp aquos in his game room.

Great buy if you can find one. Mitsu is getting out of the DLP business since lcd's are getting big enough and cheap enough to make more economic sense, so they won't be making more.

Two things on this set: the screen is sandwiched between two panels and occasionally slips out during shipping. Mitsu will reset/replace the screen within 30 days, so check yours by pushing on the edges of the screen. If it gives in anywhere, it slipped, so call right away to have it fixed. If you put a static pattern up, you may also see that its bowed or clipped where the screen is loose. Also check to see if costco's squaretrade tv warranty still applies to tv's you didn't buy there. It did until late last year when I bought it last. You can get a +3 year warranty for this through them for $59 if they haven't changed that.

A 73" set with a 4 year warranty for $550 is pretty damn good. Electricity usage is also really good, around 180-220 watts depending on settings. Considering my 3 year old plasma set draws 400.
