Lowes has the Black and Decker BV5600 250MPH 12 Amp High Performance Blower/Vac/Mulcher w/ Metal Impeller [lowes.com] on sale for $59.98. Pricing might be YMMV

Apply $10 off $50 coupon from this thread

The BV5600 seems very similar to the LH4500 that i own but is significantly less noisier (50%) which is one of my main complaints of the LH4500. The metal impeller is solid in mulching and the blower does a fantastic job. FYI also the blower capacity on this seems to be a tad higher compared to the LH4500.

If i have a black walnut tree, any chance i can use something like this to suck up the walnuts/destroyed hulls? Squirrels love to litter my yard with debris from eating the walnuts.

Can the metal impeller cut-up walnuts to pieces or not?
I would not recommend purposely using this Light-Duty for such.

Wow! This deal really sucks... and blows. Big Grin
I'm thinking of getting this. It would make Fall clean-up so much easier.
Repped for the pun! Made me laugh!

Glad you liked it. I think you forgot to give the rep, though.

Hmm, the LH4500 (the heavier duty model) is $66.49 right now at Kmart - which is not really a big sale - 5% off. Minus any SYW bucks you might have in your account, minus 7% back from places like FW right now, free shipping.... Still, the $10 off does make this cheaper by a bit.
I agree about the metal impeller being important, btw.

In for 1 + repped!

I'm a newbie, so forgive me if someone already noticed this, but you can make it even slicker if you have a Chase Freedom card. Simply click through the Ulitimate Rewards Mall (search for Lowe's "by merchant"). It'll give you 2 things:

1) 3% bonus points per dollar (like a total of 4% back in points)
2) Free 1-3 day parcel shipping for orders > $48 (this one just makes it)

I didn't even have to leave home to go pick it up! woot

There is simply no really good reason not to go with metal unless you view these as disposable and are willing to buy a new one each year.
agreed...only buy one with a metal impeller...not the place to save a buck to go with plastic here.

Do you guys think it could work as a sawdust collector? I am getting into woodworking and I was thinking about getting a dust collector but they seems to start around $200 so I'm thinking the shop vac/ leave vac/mulcher DIY route... If these work it may be nice to have a dedicated collector for the router, planer, table saw, and miter saw that autostarts...

If not - what other techniques would you recommend?

It qualifies for FS regardless. I updated the OP title just to make this clear. I think the OP already mentions taking adv of the CB option

Not sure if this has been noted or not yet but free shipping applies on Lowes.com for this product. Got it $53 shipped. Good deal for one of these with a metal blade. Gonna make yard clean up a breeze.

I bought a blower vac last year with metal impeller and it broke after one use in my backyard. Bad idea for an oak tree. That nut wizard looks like an interesting instrument, but it seems like a pain going around the yard searching for them under leaves. Is there a mulcher that can handle nuts? At this point I'm willing to pay a little extra to get anything that can handle walnuts with leaf mulching.
