We here at Slickdeals are constantly striving to offer the best shopping experience for our community. To that end, many of you may know that our Moderators and Quality Assurance folks vet the authenticity of each deal that gets posted, so you can cut down on clutter and get to the slickest deals.

Old Policy: Major Retailers and Daily Deal Merchants
Specifically, in regards to the eBay marketplace, the unofficial policy has been to only allow deals posted from major corporate or manufacturer marketplace accounts (like Adorama Camera or the Jockey Store) as well as deals on the eBay Daily Deals page. This was due in large part to ensure deals have sufficient inventory levels, feature authentic products, and offer the best customer experience.

As the community begins to find and post valid deals from other reputable merchants outside of that scope, we want to work with you to open up those deals to the rest of our community.

New Policy: Top Rated Plus
Starting today, we want to invite users to post strong deals they see from any eBay merchant that have:
  • Top Rated Plus store rating with 10K+ rating and 98% positive feedback
  • Not Top Rated Plus Store with a 20K+ rating and 98% positive feedback + quantity >= 20 available. (cannot be smaller availability when posted). Expensive items such as a 4K watch or other in lower quantity will be discretion of mods to allow or not.
Why Top Rated Plus?
eBay's Top Rated Plus has metric thresholds that are designed to ensure good customer experience. These include a minimum of 14-day money back returns, proven customer service record, and general overall compliance with eBay rules.

Learn More [ebay.com] about the Top Rated Plus designation.

Please No Self-Promotion
Please keep in mind that self-promotion rules are still in effect, so business owners, employees, or agencies should please refrain from posting and voting on their own deals. Rather, we encourage you to message a moderator or staff member to learn about other ways of working together with Slickdeals.

We welcome any feedback, comments, and questions below. Thank you!

UPDATE: Please keep in mind that we only allow for Buy It Now listings from eBay, however we don't allow auction listings. While great deals can certainly be had via eBay auction listings, we want to avoid hosting these listings since they are often very limited in inventory, and are more viable to product quality issues.

If we have FPd the merchant in the past through another source we may opt to allow them to be posted again even if they don't meet other criteria regarding eBay. We would have considered them a merchant in good standing to FP them the first time

Also in top rated plus "30 days money back" in that case I can do?
Also please tell me if I do, then what is way to submit?

Hi,

Thanks for asking but no, you may not post your own deals here. That would be self promotion and we do not allow that.

Schooby,

I have a question for clarification.

According to your eBay policies...

To post a deal on eBay, it must have:
  • Top Rated Plus store rating
  • At least 10,000 total ratings
  • 98% Positive Feedback percentage

Are these rules meaning that one must have all of these criteria or one of those 3 components?

Also, are these rules not in force when something is an eBay Daily Deal?

Because this deal was front-paged and the seller has less than 1,700 Feedback and no "Top-Rated Plus" store rating.

If it's not a daily deal then all of the 3 criteria need to be met.

I just had a post taken down yesterday b/c it didn't meet the 10,000 total feedback ratings which is confusing. The seller was top rated + power seller with a 100% feedback rating.

I find most of the best deals are from the smaller sellers on eBay and Amazon but according to these guidelines, we're only allowed to post from sellers that everyone already knows. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of using this site since we can just subscribe to those 10-20 stores and receive updates faster than using this site?

Also, slickdeals is just a posting forum whereas eBay and Amazon already have buyer protection policies in place. Feedback on those sites are not mandatory so even if a good seller does thousands of transactions, their feedback qty might not reflect that.

I'm just trying to make sense of this guideline as it appears almost counter-productive and not really offering the BEST deals available to the community. Just my .02

How about you guys learn about the new eBay standards that rolled out in August, review your policy, and then realize why it is stupid.

Edit:

Moderators are so smart. Buy deals get promoted FP (where's the TRS badge)?

But deals from APMEX (100,000+ fb, 99.8% positive, official silver/gold dealer of eBay) get remove for not being reputable? LMAO

I agree, and I think 10k feedback is too high of a standard. Consumers aren't usually dumb (especially those who take the time to search for deals) and can evaluate a seller's approval rating/number of feedbacks to determine what is an acceptable risk to them.

I think the Top Rated Plus requirement is too stringent as it prevents overseas sellers (e.g. HK, China, etc) who do not use tracking. For example, my post for a $1.48 nylon watch strap (retails at $10+ on Amazon) got removed even though the seller far exceeds the other two requirements - 269,000+ reviews, 99% positive feedback. Perhaps an exception worth considering is the reputation level of the poster to prevent self-promo or other insidious motivations.

Is there a new policy regarding allowable posts regarding ebay offers too? The reason I ask is that I was just looking at a post In Hot Deals regarding an ebay contest that just disappeared. Now clearly what was being discussed was not exactly what the ebay marketing execs drew up on the whiteboard during the planning meetings, but I've seen a heck of a lot worse discussed here on any day you want to point out. Those threads are still here. Is there something special about ebay?

For the longest time we didn't allow any urlhasbeenblocked that weren't the eBay deal of the day or huge merchants such as Buy.com (now Rakuten) since it was too easy for individuals to start posting their own deals (self promotion).

As you can see we have relaxed them a bit. But still want to make sure members aren't just posting their own items.

On one level I can understand, but this policy is too much. I just tried to post a great deal from an amazing seller and well i was told to come here. Couldn't post it because the seller didn't have 10,000 but a seller does not need 10,000 ratings in order to be a GREAT seller! I don't believe all of these deals that we can't post shouldn't be allowed. I hope this policy changes but not sure how much of a fan i am now of this forum. I've been getting great deals from here for over a year now.
