I am posting this as a heads-up, but I am sorry I don't have more details. [Mods: If this needs to be in the finance section, please move it, but I placed it here for more exposure.]

I received the attached letter from Datapak Services Corporation (via AllClear) who state the my customer information (credit card, address, etc) may have been compromised. I thought I would post this here since we all shop at a lot of the same sites.
[Update---see posts below for WBShop.com info]
I am not going to list all the sites that I have shopped at, but from my past posts you will find Rakuten, Newegg, Amazon, and others quite often. The letter does not state the client company's name.

I don't know about Newegg, I would suspect that Amazon does all of their processing in-house.

In my own speculation, Rakuten is at the top of my because the time frame seems to work out. See this thread:

http://slickdeals.net/f/6018544-rakuten-buy-com-customers-getting-fraudulent-credit-card-charges?

Newegg was talked about here:http://slickdeals.net/f/6268674-newegg-account-compromised-beware-of-potential-security-breach

Datapak Services offered me one years' worth of credit monitoring from AllClear PRO. Again, they are keeping the ID of their client private. Since I can use different information at different sites, I am not sure what, if any, of my information was exposed.

I got the letter, too. I've made one purchase from wb in my lifetime and it was in June. My credit card company noticed fraudulent charges last month and so that card has been canceled.

A totally different card was compromised earlier this year with the Australian surf shop. (And that card hasn't been used by me in over a year and never online.) The weird part about that is that someone made the purchase and then returned it?! The only charge that was on my card was a couple dollars due to the change in the exchange rate. That card has been canceled, too.

I wasn't planning on signing up for AllClear but maybe I'd better.

I also received that letter. Two fraudulent charge attempts were made on one of my cards about two months ago. One was for over $600, which didn't go through because of a credit limit on this particular card. The company froze the card and notified me right away.
I looked at the companies I purchased from at the time. I suspected a company called beyondlimits.com. But I also had made purchases from living social and wbshop. I didn't think it would be wbshop, considering the size and supposed rep of the company. But I guess that must have been it.

Got the letter 2 days ago. I made a purchase at WB back in June. Two fraudulent charges made to my CC about a week ago but got a call from my credit card company's fraud alert department - card cancelled.

Sony is a large company with a good reputation, yet they had one of thelargest security breaches in history [wikipedia.org]. The difference is, they owned up to it publicly, albeit with a little delay.

Add me to the list - shopped at WBshop. Stupid question but should we not buy anything from WBshop anymore? Why I ask is because they do have good prices sometimes on DVD's. Also is there any extra security measure we can make to CC's? Like after buying something get an alert on cell phone to verify purchase then pressing a number to accept charge?

I would guess whatever security issues that were have been fixed if they were the website involved.

My problem is the silence from WBShop neither confirming or denying the issue. I have written, via their websites, different divisions of Warner Brothers without reply. Thus, their lack of silence shows a lack of respect for their customers. At this point they could give away their movies and I would not sign up. Right now, they are having a great sale on some movie deals;as posted on SD. Getting a great sale, for me, does not make up for this issue. I feel like I would be demeaning myself if I shopped there now. [Of course, this my own feeling, you may rightfully feel different.] (Or maybe I am just getting too grumpy in my old age.)

The only reply I have received was from WBShop responding to my request to remove my customer data.

I should note that my order history is now gone from their system. [It was still showing the last 4 of the CC used.]

Was it a debit or credit card? Since the FTC's website is down, I found this referenced elsewhere.
If it is a debit card, here is some information to consider:

Quote from source.given.as.FTC :
Your loss is limited to $50 if you notify the financial institution within two business days after learning of loss or theft of your card or code.
But you could lose as much as $500 if you do not tell the card issuer within two business days after learning of loss or theft.
If you do not report an unauthorized transfer that appears on your statement within 60 days after the statement is mailed to you, you risk unlimited loss on transfers made after the 60-day period. That means you could lose all the money in your account plus your maximum overdraft line of credit, if any.

I now have a policy to use buffer accounts (such as credit cards, AmEx Bluebird or Paypall) for most of my shopping. For me fortunately, this security issue was just a scare.

I am sorry you got hit.

The last order I placed with wbshop was Nov 2012. I had a credit card stored in the profile but there hasn't been any fraudulent charges on that card. I didn't get the Datapak letter. I'm not sure if I should change the credit card number. The reluctance comes from the fact it's a real pain to make changes on cards used with automatic payments and various merchant profiles. In the past my credit card was able to successfully block transaction from different country. But I'm not sure what would happen if the transactions were made within United States. My sister's credit card was compromised before. Believe me the police and FBI don't give a $hit about credit card theft. We actually found out from the merchant where the package was sent. There is a name and address of the recipient of the stolen goods but police didn't do anything about it. It would have been an easy arrest but police didn't want to do anything. Neither did FBI.

The charges hit last night and I found them this morning. I called USAA immediately and they had marked it as fraud and were waiting till a better time to call me (this was like 7 am). They cancelled all the charges and are in the process of refunding all the money

I have a tip for those (for whatever reason, for example lack of credit) who want to shop online using their debit card from their checking account , but who also don't want to expose the card, and thus the account, to an internet merchant.

I have found that American Express' Bluebird card currently does not charge a fee [bluebird.com] to transfer money to it via an existing debit card. They have limits of doing this, currently up to $100 a transaction, or $100 a day, with a monthly limit of $1000.

Thus, if a person wanted to make a debit transaction this way, they would go to their Bluebird account and do a debit fund transfer there (should be almost instant), and assuming the online vendor takes Amex, then complete the purchase using the Bluebird card. This would make your debit/checking account one layer removed from the purchase.

You can sign up for a free Bluebird card at https://www.bluebird.com

Got the letter too. Made wbshop purchase in August. Used PayPal. No weird activity. Also made a purchase way back but can't remember. I don't have an account with wbshop.
