Thread Details

I am posting this as a heads-up, but I am sorry I don't have more details. [Mods: If this needs to be in the finance section, please move it, but I placed it here for more exposure.]

I received the attached letter from Datapak Services Corporation (via AllClear) who state the my customer information (credit card, address, etc) may have been compromised. I thought I would post this here since we all shop at a lot of the same sites.
[Update---see posts below for WBShop.com info]
I am not going to list all the sites that I have shopped at, but from my past posts you will find Rakuten, Newegg, Amazon, and others quite often. The letter does not state the client company's name.

I don't know about Newegg, I would suspect that Amazon does all of their processing in-house.

In my own speculation, Rakuten is at the top of my because the time frame seems to work out. See this thread:

http://slickdeals.net/f/6018544-rakuten-buy-com-customers-getting-fraudulent-credit-card-charges?

Newegg was talked about here:http://slickdeals.net/f/6268674-newegg-account-compromised-beware-of-potential-security-breach

Datapak Services offered me one years' worth of credit monitoring from AllClear PRO. Again, they are keeping the ID of their client private. Since I can use different information at different sites, I am not sure what, if any, of my information was exposed.

[Personal information has been deleted from the letters.]

Btw, in case WBshop or others happen to run across this thread, as WBshop appears to be using Datapak and appears not to care how this is affecting customers I've been boycotting them.

(This is one reason Datapak ,or those that use them are unlikely to release a list/ and or disclose they are associated with Datapak.)

In short, Datapak and the vendors don't care about "little" people having their credit / lives screwed up. Their primary concern is their bottom line

I was compromised too. Bought the Man of Steel 3-D blu-ray from WBShop and 2 days later, my Discover card stopped working because it was compromised (two charges made, one at a children's clothing store and another at Best Buy for $1000+). I made no other purchases that would warrant the compromise, besides from trusty retailers like Newegg and Amazon (hundreds of transactions that I've done with those with no problems).

The unfortunate thing is that I posted a WBShop deal just prior to this compromise since I wasn't aware of it.

Won't post any deals regarding from them again. On top of that, it's unfortunate that WBShop deals like the Dark Knight sets are FP right now.

Atleast, u didn't know. Some knew and even said, they were going to buy because the deals at wb were too good, plus, there was not proof positive.. wb was the breach. I listed myself as a test case because i didn't shop at most of the stores that came up...but, that one vender and my one purchase..pinned wb as the source! In my opinion, wb continues to be a hole in security. I will never shop there again, unless i had a pre-pay cc and a po box or a street address po from an upc store. I am just extreme, now or i'll do vc thru discover, one day.
My breach was caught because amex was on the job and denied it. Amex alerted me at 3am, via text and email.

Just came across this thread, from wquach's thread!! (you bastard Wink )

So THIS is how my card was compromised back in September. I was so surprised when my amex got hit with fraudulent charges because I've never had a problem before. And I had no idea where the problem originated. Now I know.

And I just used my Amex again. Frown Goddamit.
Now I'll have to cancel it.

I would have thought that the breach would have been closed, but looks like it's still on, and that's just terrible of wbshop. Frown
Will have to think twice before shopping there now.

Just received fraudulent charges on my card after receiving Datapak notice last month. Card I've been using for 3 years without any problem now compromised. The only new site I ordered from was WBShop.

So this is still ongoing. Make sure you check your statement in the midst of Christmas shopping.

Well, it would appear that ADP was hacked, as well. Got this letter from eRewards today. Yay.

We value the privacy and security of our Members and take such matters very seriously. It was recently announced that over 2 million passwords, email accounts, social network accounts and ADP accounts were hacked through a massive security breach – affecting people around the world.

I messaged Datapak on their facebook wall and they gave me an email address to write to - Turns out it was Alterna.com that was hacked for me. All of their sites, but they will tell you which one was your issue

That is the 64 thousand question. Problem being is Datapak is not going to provide such a list. They probably have in their contractual agreements they retain this info.

Heh, it never ends.

Neiman Marcus acknowledged today that it is working with the U.S. Secret Service to investigate a hacker break-in that has exposed an unknown number of customer cards.

[There has been an] increasing number of fraudulent credit and debit card charges that were being traced to cards that had been very recently used at brick-and-mortar stores run by the Dallas, Texas based high-end retail chain. Sources said that while it appears the fraud on those stolen cards was perpetrated at a variety of other stores, the common point of purchase among the compromised cards was Neiman Marcus.
