How to generate your own $10 off $50 coupon

With Staples blocking sign-ups from common free email services, it is now more challenging to generate coupons. But have no fear, there are still many ways to go about it. Here is an overview of the easiest way.

You'll first need to buy a domain name. Check out registrars like namecheap.com and name.com, and shop around for deals.

Then, sign up with an email service provider that offers a "catch-all" mailbox feature. This means that emails sent to any address at your new domain will automatically be collected into that catch-all mailbox, essentially giving you unlimited email addresses. For example, if your domain is example.com, emails sent to [email protected] (fill in the blank with whatever you want) can be automatically sent to [email protected]. No need to create new email accounts.

Gmail via Google Apps for Business [google.com] offers the catch-all mailbox feature, as does many other email service providers. It's also possible that your domain registrar included email services when you bought your domain from them (though they may not necessarily offer a catch-all mailbox). Search around for a service that you like.

This sounds complicated and time consuming, but it's really not. Feel free to PM me if you need some general advice about the process. -Olafur

Outdated, but still relevant, information:

Thank you to NoMoreStaples

"Valid through 1/31/14 in Staples® U.S. stores only. Minimum purchase requirement of $50 must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies. Tax is not included in calculating the minimum purchase. Not valid on desktop or laptop computers, LCD/LED displays, tablets, netbooks, Apple® products, Bose® products, Amazon Kindle®, NOOK®, Epson® ink and toner, custom printing orders placed online, all Copy & Print self-serve and computer workstation, gift cards, mobile phones and mobile phone services, Staples® EasyTech(sm) professional-grade and on-site services, depot repair and parts, phone cards or postage stamps. Each item purchased can only be discounted by one coupon, applied by cashier in order received and prior to tax. Coupon not valid if purchased or sold and must be surrendered. No cash/credit back. Not valid on prior purchases or on purchases made with Staples® Procurement or Convenience Cards."

Note: Even though the stated expiration date is 1/31/14, it is shown 4/4/14 on the printed receipt. So in some cases, the coupons could be redeemed after 1/31/14 with some talking to Staples cashier/manager.

Something is indeed happening on the programming side... there are a couple things I've noticed today related to the coupons that have changed. Please post the prefix number and printed expiration date on the ones you received.
Both are 78355 and expire 10/9, at least according to the email. No idea what the actual register expiration date is, as those are typically different.

Maybe I'll go buy a Hammermill case with it tomorrow, FAR.

Haven't use 10/50 in store lately. Does anybody know if this coupon can be used with lets say paper on rebate and with coupon, and adding $10 worth of other stuff. If used to be that way few weeks back.

Also, last week I orders Staples multipurpose case online which was $19.99 after rebate and could use 10/50 coupon. But it rejected the same yesterday when same case is available for $14.99 after rebate.

Any idea. TIA

You can use coupons that have the same first five digits only once per staples.com account.

I already used it twice on same account, not only that, it said minimum amount not met even when doing guest checkout. Not sure if that's an issue. How about using it in store lately, definitely have used it many times with fillers worth $10 or more. Thanks

New coupons are for regularly priced items I believe. So, anything with instant savings or specially priced could be an issue from what I've read. Yes the 10/50 can be used more than once on an account. Forgot about that but I'm not sure how much time needs to be between uses. In-store multiple use has never been an issue except for the new only good on regularly priced items if so stated on the coupons. Definitely getting harder to use use coupons at Staples.

Thanks, I'll try tomorrow buying HM 5 Ream case and then adding $10 extra stuff see if it takes the coupon or now.

I was wondering, in store, do these not stack with rewards to completely pay for a $50 checkout?

I remember coupons at staples.com started becoming difficult to use because it's on regularly priced item, and I think rewards takes away from the total.

thanks for the insight.

Rewards behave more like money than coupon, so you can apply coupon, then pay with Rewards. You should familiarize yourself with the SPLS FAQ.

Thanks, I'll take a look. I thought I understood everything before, but do remember when coupons started causing issues online because minimums were calculated differently.
