Before you can make calls and send texts, you need to reset, unlock, and program your phone. Here's how: 1. Reset your devicePower up the phone and navigate to Applications > Settings > System Updates Select "Update Profile" When complete, navigate back to Applications > Settings > System Updates Select "Update PRL" When complete, your phone will automatically get an internet connection via the FreedomPop network. 2. Download and install app for FreedomPop Talk and Text From your device, launch the Google Play app, and search for "FreedomPop Messaging", or access the link, FreedomPop Messaging. Once you have located FreedomPop Messaging app, click the install button. 3. Configure FreedomPop Talk and Text Upon install of the FreedomPop Message app, open it directly from Google Play or by located and pressing the app icon. Enter the email address tied to your FreedomPop account. NOTE: Talk will work immediately, and Text will require 24-48 hours to work. That's it. Remember that this is a Beta, so please give feedback, good and bad.

If the above method doesn't work, then you'll need the MSL to reset and activate your phone.

A Carrier Wipe, and Profile & PRL update are required for activation. Please follow the steps below. For a number of these updates you'll need your Master Subsidy Lock or MSL--this is a six-digit code provided to you by Freedompop in your activation email.

1. Carrier Wipe
Open the dialer
Dial # # 72786 # (Different models may require different Carrier Wipe codes such as ##MSL# or ##786#)
Enter your Master Subsidy Lock (MSL) (a six-digit code provided to you by Freedompop in your activation email) if prompted
Touch "OK" or choose RESET, phone will restart.

2. System Update
Touch the "Application" icon
Touch "Settings"
Touch "System updates" (on some newer phones, this may be one level up from the Settings menu)
(Note: If it says "No updates available" you may not be connected to the internet. Make sure your WiFi is enabled and connected. You also may need to change your WiFi sleep policy, check it out here).

3. Profile Update
Touch the "Application" icon
Touch "Settings"
Touch "System updates" (on some newer phones, this may be one level up from the Settings menu)
Touch "Update Profile". The device will restart when complete.

4. PRL Update
Touch the "Application" icon
Touch "Settings"
Touch "System updates" (on some newer phones, this may be one level up from the Settings menu)
Touch "Update PRL". Wait for the PRL update to complete, then touch "OK". Your device may restart after the PRL update. If not, please restart your device.

Sprint rebranded the Galaxy S II as Samsung Epic 4G Touch. Same phone. So you are OK.

It's available in my area, but I don't have any of the phone listed. What is a cheap way to obtain this phone without any new contract with sprint.
