It was FAR in June, along w/ the 15' version, possibly clearance season for the cables. 6' version was at $2 a few days ago. Otherwise 10' for $8 is a fair price but not enough to buy now unless you really needed it right away, and then I'd only get the bare minimum amount I need (probably just 1). I'd wait at least until February for the post-holiday clearances (new TVs purchased for holidays and Super Bowl weekend (end of Jan), which I think is still the biggest TV sales period of the year), but yeah when these went FAR from Feb to June they sold out within a couple hours each time, but they also kept coming back every week or so.
BTW, if the components will rarely be moved, the back isn't in view, and there's enough clearance, I'd stick with HDMI, which is normally $2-3 for 10' and has less internal components to screw up a connection that already tends to be mysterious at times (gotta love/hate HDMI handshaking). And even if there's not enough clearance, I'd probably consider an angle adapter first for about $1-2. Unless it's cheaper per foot than HDMI, I'd only consider redmere for portable devices just so I can wind it up more compactly.
