Yahoo!'s take on the winners and losers of yesterday's NHL trade deadline. [yahoo.com]

surprised to see St Louis moved from TB. but I think there was some bad blood between him and Stevie Y being he kept him off of both Canadian winter Olympic hockey team rosters.

my Wings might have gave up more than they should have for an aging Legwand.

That one was definitely personal from all appearances...and it disappointed a shitload of fans around here. We had made up our minds he was gonna retire here...

most captains are not traded away without either a complete rebuild taking place under new ownership/management/coaching, or there being a bad relationship with the front office (GM) and the player. especially one that was last year's scoring leader, and 8th on the list this season.

kid dropped his head, Landers. he also had the puck possession, so no interference. nowhere near the boards, so no boarding. if you're going for the leaving feet angle, his momentum made him leave his feet. just like most of those who experience a good Kronwalling. what penalty as a zebra would you have called there? I am open to discussion Smilie

Guy making the hit still targeted the head and left his feet, neither of which are legal, even in high school. Smilie

the leaving the feet wouldn't have been called anywhere. again, the momentum of the contact caused that.

as far as targeting, have gone frame for frame and only thing from this angle that I can tell looks like shoulder was squaring up to a mid chest delivery.

I still think it should be a penalty under a rule change of no intentional contact at the high school level. similar to women's olympic hockey. far too many big injuries. but under current USA hockey rules, I see no penalty under the play.
