I bought this same modem used from eBay over a year ago for about this price. It was been working perfectly with Time Warner since I hooked it up and got it activated. Based on Time Warner's lease fees, it only takes a couple of months to break even from buying your own modem and you are saving money after that.

Has been this price for a while, but still a very nice deal. I bought a used one from Amazon Warehouse for $7 shipped with Prime.

Motorola 6121.

Whatever you decide make sure its DOCSIS 3.0. anything less than that is just about obsolete.

There's a Motorola 6180 for 44 on Amazon. I got that one last year and works great...

Just to be clear, this is a DOCSIS 2.0 so might be worth it if you just need something for the short term and you only have low or medium speed internet

This is the exact same modem TWC installed in Hawaii, and they wanted to charge $6 rental for it, so replaced it with a 6141 instead.

This is an old DOCSIS 2.0 modem. Nothing wrong with that per se but note that this is not a current modem. For my provider, this modem is not even on the old DOCSIS 2.0 supported list.

As I said in the other cable modem thread, you are much better off buying one at a thrift store. You can get modems for < $10. Even this amazon page lists goodwill as one of the vendors for $2.72.
